About meI work in a public library and have a serious Kapco addiction. I have asked Santa for my own high-volume laminating machine for the past few years, to no avail.

About my libraryNov. 3 - I found a few boxes of old paperbacks belonging to my parents. They're kind of crispy, and they smell of being packed in liquor store boxes since 1969, but there are so many classic titles and authors I can't resist adding them to the catalog. They predate ISBN's, so finding the right bib record is a challenge.

Oct. 16 - I've been adding a lot of the children's books I took from my parent's house when they moved. Forgot how much I loved Richard Scarry and P.D. Eastman when I was little.

Sept. 28 - Kitchen shelves done, so there's roughly equal amounts of food and porn. Ah, if only real life had the same balance. Started on the bookcases in the garage; lots of feminist/political stuff.

Sept. 17 - Right now the collection seems to be skewing towards smut, but that's only because I cataloged the shelves in the bedroom first. I'll move on to the kitchen next, then the living room. Then the shelves in the garage. Then the cartons in the attic. Then the piles in the trunk of my car. Then the boxes that are still at my parent's house. Yoiks.

Isn't Big Sur the greatest? I loved it so much I bought a 5 cd audiobook of it read by the great Tom Parker, who does JLK to a turn. I like to listen to it on my soundproof headphones while I'm on the riding lawnmower. You must read Dharma Bums if you liked Big Sur. It's a lot more upbeat (no pun intended) but no less amusing for all that. For me both these books are far better than On the Road.

Thank you; I hadn't come across that particular brand name, but it brought back to my mind my first summer as a junior assistant for West Sussex County Library when I sat in the basement of County Hall with a numbering stamp whacking each book in three places and then two 5 x 3 blank catalogue cards to go with it to the Higher Beings who did the cataloguing - upstairs, where they could at least see the sunshine of nearly sixty years ago.
For the benefit of an ancient former librarian, do tell me what Kapco is.
Best wishes, Gibbon, Bristol, England
