Netflix does not have the Dance series on dvd, which means I won't see it for now. I never buy dvds, so unless I can get it on Netflix . . .

I will ask hubby about Rutherford. He really likes classic jazz (bop, be-bop, hard bop, a little swing and big band, but not much) rather than modern jazz, so unless Rutherford started out in bop, Hubby may not be a fan.

As far as I can see, "interesting libraries" doesn't do anything and seems like a waste of time. Nothing happens if you list someone's library as your favorite. I guess the idea is that you can remember to browse through the libraries you have listed as interesting when you are looking for something new to read. Since there are already over 500 books on my TBR shelf, and at least a couple hundred more on my "Books to Buy" list, I need book suggestions like I need a hole in the head. But I added a couple of libraries to my interesting libraries list just so I looked like I fit in. I want to be one of the cool kids. ;-)
I'm going to look on netflix for the tv version -- thanks for the tip!
I haven't read any of Powell's other works either -- only Dance. But if you count it as 12 novels (since they were published separately), that's a pretty big chunk! And since I count Dance as probably my favorite "novel" (singular this time), I can't see leaving Powell off my list of favorites.

Although I was an English Lit major in college, I never ran across Powell unti I saw Dance listed as one of the Modern Library's Top 100 Novels of the 20th Century. So I got to it as I worked my way through the list.

The MGB book is Hubby's -- it goes with his 1969 MGB that he bought "almost new" in 1970. I think he loves the car more than he loves me!
We are two of only four LT members who list Anthony Powell as a favorite author. Sad to see him so underappreciated! Dance is an all-time favorite of mine.
Thanks for joining the Open University group.
