About me I have a PhD in psychology. I work in a women's studies department. I love cats and nonfiction. (I like fiction too, but it's not what I gravitate toward any more. I think grad school did that to me.)

About my library This is currently but a fraction (the most interesting portion) of what I own. I'm working on it, though. I have tons of academic reference books (mostly on psychology, sexuality, theory, and feminism) that I'll get around to listing one of these days.

You always pop up as the person with whom I share the most books (not surprising, given the common backgrounds in psych and women's studies and the generally geeky nature of our libraries), so I thought I'd wave hello.
Dear chick-lit reader,

I’m a belgian university student that loves chick-lit. Would you like to help me with my thesis and write to me why you (personally) like reading chick-lit? What is it about chick-lit that appeals to you? What are your favourite books and why? Your help would mean a lot to me!

Best wishes,

There's actually a new edition of the PD coming out later this month titled just Discordia. Oddly I found this out skimming Publishers Weekly.
The other PDs that have been printed are old ones that I've never been able to track down rather than anything currently available, unfortunately.
The annotated version of Lolita is, in my opinion, the only way to read it. Otherwise you miss everything that Nabokov did. Because the thing is so full to the brim of clues and allusions that it's much more than a story. That's what I like about Nabokov so much. But for some people it detracts from the story, pulls them out of it. So it's a personal thing. But if you like it, I'd definitely recommend it to see it through a different light.

We need to swap our bibliophile tendencies. I need more nonfiction in my life. I tend to read only those that interest me and I don't really do it to learn, which I probably should. As for fiction, I think it's just a matter of knowing what to read. I've done lots of research the last year or so before getting books and it helps because that way I know if something may interest me. There are still several I throw out, but my rate of success has been much better.
There are actually more than 3 editions of the Principia Discordia that have ever been made, but only three commonly available. Just FYI, Loompanics is going out of business. All items left in stock are 50% off so I just ordered a couple of PD spares. :)
Mwahahahaaaaaa...
