About me30 something, live in New Zealand, big time reader, mostly of SF and Fantasy - preferring Fantasy a lot more, enjoying reading new Urban/Paranormal authors

About my library85% SF and Fantasy books, and remaining mostly reference books - lots and lots of cooking, some gardening, assorted hobby topics (mosaics lacemaking papermaking photography ) etc

Note: I do not actually *own and have copies* of everything listed on my LT - its also a way to keep track of what I have read but not got (ie thru a library) and also keep track of upcoming books on my wishlist - anything I own is tagged "got"

Yep - I have read her Magicians' Guild Series as well - I'm awaiting the prequel and sequels as I type.

Jennifer Fallon's books seem interesting - I'll buy one or two when I next go to a bookshop ;)

As for Fiona McIntosh - I've read her Trinity trilogy and found it predictable in it's overall plot. Has her writing style improved in her Myrrens Gift trilogy? If not then i'll have to give it a miss i'm afraid.
I saw you were a belly dancer, too! I'm just beginning, myself. I usually end up getting in a play that interferes with my dance schedule, but I take every chance I get to get back into it.

Wondering which of the Isavalta books you read and liked, and which you stalled on - no problem there - I ask, because they don't connect linearly, the time lines overlap...if I know which you hated, and where you stalled, I could maybe be more precise in recommending other titles you may like.

Happier endings, most with a light love theme - Juliet Marillier's books.
Characters with nice edges - similar to Kristine Smith - try R. M. Meluch, The Myriad books. Very quick moving and fun, with involved characters. If you never tried Jennifer Roberson, do! Particularly her Tiger and Del books.

Pleased to hear from you!
Wow, that was fast! Welcome, and enjoy!
Hello Bluerose, Sorry I stood you up in ythe chat room last night. I was waiting and waiting and then forgot to sign out. Maybe another night! Chrish
By the way - I notice you have a lot of Liaden books. Are you on the mailing list? Steve and Sharon frequently post there, along with a lot of other people - liad@fireopal.org (I don't remember how to join - I think if you send a Subscribe message to that address you'd get on).
Oh, having just read Janny Wurts' comment below, I can wholeheartedly back up what she's saying about Sarah Zettel - she's one wonderful author, both her Isavalta series, and also her Camelot books (haven't read her sci fi though).
~grins~ Handsome and devilish...

Nice to meet ya... :)
Bluerose - have you ever read the historical trilogy by Edith Pargeter that begins with The Heaven Tree?

It's just wonderful, highly unusual, has GREAT characters - very moving. Given your author preferences, I think, you may love this story - it's a great favorite of mine.

And - you have probably already read Sarah Zettel? You'd love her stuff, if not....either SF, or her Isavalta fantasies - everything she's done is very top notch. Again, that quality to the characters....
