About my libraryNothing entered here by RCK, yet.

But here is an interesting way to handle Reader's Digest condensed books, from 'flabuckeye.'
"Entries with a "z" tag are not actual books. They may be maps or titles included in a collection....

Reader's Digest book collections are given a star for each entry I read. They do not indicate good or bad. It would not be fair to the author to rate the story. I view them as a long book review and an introduction to a new author."

Hi Bob:

I love looking at books that I've inherited from family members and I also frequently buy old books. I just found a 1952 copy of "4,5,6" by Josephine Tey, and a 1951 copy of "The Bounty Trilogy" by Nordhoff and Hall (my mom and dad had a copy that I read as a teenager, so this brings back great memories).

Have fun cataloging and let me know when you go public.

Thank you for flagging my library as interesting. It's certainly eclectic.

I'm from California and don't remember going to Carpinteria, but we spent lots of time at Lake Cachuma, NW of you, when I was a kid.

Have you gotten any books from the ER program? I've gotten quite a few, but missed out in August.

I was delighted to receive your email. I love LibraryThing but have neglected it for months. I am a high school librarian in Clovis Unified. I grew up on a farm (tree fruit, raisins) in Selma, so your suspicions are correct. My parents, aunt, and uncle knew Wally Smith and deeply admired him. We have a very old copy of his book, so my sons gave me the new edition for Christmas. I hope to read it cover to cover this summer. Umm. There may be a chance you knew my mother or other relatives. My mother was Lucy Anna Nielsen, and she taught English at Reedley College. My mother Bill Hanson also taught there. My aunt was Pauline Davis Hanson, who was an appellate court judge. I can't quite remember but one or all of them took classes from Wally Smith. I look forward to hearing from you again.
