GroupsLibrarians who LibraryThing
About meSince 1983 I have been a professional librarian in a variety of college and university settings, including a small liberal arts college, a law school, two universities, and, most recently, a community college. I have been a library director since starting my present job in 1995.
Not surprisingly, I have always loved books and reading and the places associated with them, like bookstores and libraries. I also love history and geography and visiting the places I read about in books and see in movies and on television.
I'll read anything that catches my eye, but usually my taste doesn't stray far from the kind of works you see on my list. Anything more you want to know, just ask.
My catalog is a work in progress ... like me! I'm still trying to figure out what all I can get this site to do.
About my libraryI started this list to keep a record of all the books I read beginning January 2009. I was curious as to how many books I read in a year, and this seemed like a good way to keep track. At the end of the year, I may go back and add books I read prior to 2009.
I don't own most of the books I read. Unlike a lot of librarians, I own relatively few books. I've moved a lot in my life, and books are heavy! Also, it seems hypocritical to be a librarian and not take advantage of libraries when I can.
