About meI live in northern Idaho with my wife and two children and our house is very much a bookish house. Years ago, I took a BA in English from Southern Utah University and a MA in American Studies from Utah State. Currently, I teach creative writing at the University of Idaho where I serve as the Coordinator of the MFA Program.

My memoir, The Enders Hotel (Bison Books, 2008), winner of the 2007 River Teeth Prize for Literary Nonfiction, is also a 2008 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. My work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Dallas Morning News, The Utne Reader, Tin House, Shenandoah, The Missouri Review, Colorado Review, Columbia, Green Mountains Review, River Teeth, Ecotone, Isotope, and numerous other journals. My nonfiction has won the 2006 Willard R. Espy Award, the Pushcart Prize, two Pushcart Prize Special Mentions, and my essay, “The Enders Hotel,” from my memoir, was a Notable Essay in the Best American Essays 2007.

About my libraryI'm still adding titles slowly. For the first time in my life I actually alphabetized my library. In the past, my books crowded my shelves in categories (contemp fiction, literary nonfiction, biography, history, etc). But as my library grew it became more and more difficult to remember where books were hiding, and to keep track of books I had out on loan. Like Anne Fadiman, I, too, am a bibliophile.

Hi, Brandon - Thought I'd let you know I just joined library thing, at the suggestion of Stephen Balbach, who I met thru a comment he'd made on my Amazon review of recent Pulitzer prize winner, OLIVE KITTEREDGE. I'm still trying to figure it all out, i.e. how to make "connections" and so on. I've listed several dozen books so far and airlifted some of my old reviews over from Amazon. My wife was getting a little irritated at all the time I spent hunched over my computer this weekend. But I have a feeling this network may be a little more fun than Facebook. If you have any tips for me on how to best use librarything, I'd appreciate it. In the meantime, summer vacation is nearly upon you poor working stiffs. I hope you get some time for leisure reading and have a good summer. - Tim Bazzett
Hi,

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Heigh ho, me hearty! I see you have a copy of “A Pirate of Exquisite Mind” in your library. The Highly-Rated Book Group is boarding the Pirate Ship of William Dampier and heading off into the high seas for a rollicking Buccaneering Adventure in the wild blue yonder. We are splicing the main brace and trimming the sails to set off with the tide on 3rd November 2008. So don’t be a landlubber, come and swash some buckles by climbing on board at:
