I noticed that you are an admirer of J. Gresham Machen. I can't say that I subscribe to his theology completely, but I am in awe of his strength of character, the tenacity of his convictions, and his gift of writing, particularly his letters. I can think of no better example of expository writing than his letters to his mother describing his life at the frontline during World War I. Of particular note is his evocation of the terror of a bombardment on Nov. 10, 1918, and the beauty of silence on Nov 11, 1918 while he was in a small village at the front. He was not a combatant. If I recall correctly, he volunteered with the Salvation Army (I think) to assist in any way he could to make life a little easier for the men in the trenches by bringing food, water, mail etc.
I enjoyed peeking at your library. Just curious (as it is no business of mine); are you a Mennonite?
