About meMy name is Linnea, I am a fifteen year old high school junior, and I've been a bookworm since I was just a little girl. I'm also a bit of a poetry freak, my favorites being Emily Dickinson, Lord Byron, E.E. Cummings, and of course, William Shakespeare (and Poe, if I'm in a macabre sort of mood). I don't really have much in the way of favorite authors, just favorite books, and some of those are: Wicked by Gregory Maguire, The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. Outside of the realm of books, I'm a Broadway freak and own 20+ cast recordings (some of my favorite Broadways are Wicked, Rent, and Jekyll and Hyde [the 1994 concept version, not the final Broadway product--I was sadly disappointed with that]). I'm considering pursuing journalism as a future career path (and would love to speak with any of you journalists about your jobs if you have the time).
About my libraryIt's considerably smaller than it once was, after the mass children's book purge of '05 when I gave away the majority of my children's books to clear some space on the shelves. Most of the books on my shelves right now came from my grandmother and her friend Valerie, who is an author herself (her last name is Hobbs--you should check out some of her stuff! My personal favorite of hers is Letting Go of Bobby James, or how I found my self of steam). The books that I bought and liked are usually in circulation among my friends and family, because I believe it's a shame to let a good book sit on a shelf and gather dust when it could be changing other lives as well.
