About me*IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE BOOKS IN MY WISHLIST AND DON'T MIND PARTING WITH IT/THEM, PLEASE COMMENT AND LET ME KNOW. YOUR DONATIONS ARE [NOT] TAX DEDUCTABLE! (Oh, well. I'm willing to pay you three dollars via PayPal for any book on my wishlist...)*
I'm Cody. I'm an anarchist and an atheist. My three loves in life are books, music, (especially live concerts), and alcohol. My three hates are ignorance, ignorance, and ignorance. I dropped out of high school as soon as legally possible - feeling I was too intelligent - and joined the Army at 17 - proving otherwise. :p I was first stationed in South Korea for one year, then was deployed to Iraq for one year, and spent the remainder of my three year contract, (extended for several months due to deployment), in the worst place in America, aka Fort Sill, OK. I got out of the Army three years ago, and I've been bumming around ever since. I've lived in many different states, from Alaska to Florida, New York to California to Texas, and a few places in between. I'm trying to be a writer now. I'm currently working on nine novels, none of which are even close to being complete. My goal for the future is to buy a small sailboat, pack it full of books, a guitar, and a laptop, and travel the world all by my lonesome while simultaneously writing a bunch of novels.
About my libraryI own a guitar, a laptop, a blanket and pillow, a fan, some clothes, and over five hundred books. That is all I own in this world. As you can see in my picture, I don't even have shelves to put my books on, or a chair to sit in! (I've found furniture is greatly over-rated.) Aside from the books I'm writing saved on my laptop, my collection of books is my most prized possession. I buy ninety-nine percent of my books from thrift stores, the rest I buy from betterworldbooks.com. Both of these are [apparently] good for the environment and help support beneficial non-profit organizations. I use them for no other reason than that I never pay more than three dollars for a book, though. :p I'm a certifiable bibliophile, bordering on bibliomania. All of the over 500 books I own I've bought in the past 90 days, (since I went through a "get rid of everything I own" phase three months ago), and my collection grows weekly. I cannot read fast enough... I have a very eclectic taste in books, as well as in everything else in my life. I'm ashamed by my small library in contrast with what I want it to be, but proud of it in contrast with what most people have. Most people I know haven't read anything but "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" books, and they've all considered committing me to a "friendly institution" after seeing the books I've amassed in just three months. They're intentions are noble, but their ignorance is laughable. I nearly split my sides every time someone offers to buy me a television to replace my "unhealthy" reading habits. (I don't own a TV, nor do I want one.) Shortly afterward I cry for their loss. :(
