Thanks for the comment over at my place. I've often wondered what it is about BROTHER'S KEEPER that makes it so memorable. The themes are very strong and almost biblical. The grandmother is a terrific villain. There's something wistful and sad--and alarming--about the passage of time in the novel. Davenport must be one terrific writer; there's a lot about opera and classical piano in there, things I wasn't particularly interested in as a teenager. Yet the whole books is a real page turner. Anyway, thanks for connecting.
Very cool that you also own a copy of MY BROTHER'S KEEPER by Marcia Davenport. I read the book when I was a teenager and never forgot it. I had a chance to pick up a copy at a library book sale a few years ago. Not many people own this book, but those who have read it form a kind of "secret society," it seems. Enjoy retirement in Florida!
