About me I'm sort of a 21st century Bedesman, USMCR-retired. Married, father w/teenage son at home. A Person with Parkinson's (diagnosed 15 years ago), I have an exercise/mobility assistance service dog- dog "Friday". Alumnus- Fairhaven College. Amateur radio- N7FLA carries over from former WN7ELM while in junior high and my former MOS's in the communications (signal) field.
About my library My eclectic collection complements frequent use of the public library. Currently my reading focuses on Mind and the human psyche (Mind tag). I'm interested in other animal minds. (Natural History, Rupert Sheldrake tags). A convert to Greek Orthodoxy, I'm learning the joy and promise experienced in the prayers and liturgy of Eastern Orthodoxy. Several of my tags cover religion (including Bible, Christianity, Orthodox Christianity, Prayer, Spiritual Life, Simone Weil). The radio tag is about short wave (SWL) and amateur radio, primarily the fundamentals, not "too technical." The American Experience is under American Studies, American History, and American Historical Fiction tags. Although somewhat gimped up, I enjoy sport rifle and high power shooting with my son (at paper targets), so there is a marksmanship tag. (Yes, my retro archetypal hero is William Tell.) Movement tag relates both to T'ai Chi Chuan and Jo (short staff & cane) as exercise/self defense forms and to therapies for movement disorders, such as Parkinson's Disease. Also see Parkinson's Disease tag. Summer is my season for reading natural history and science fiction (see both tags and Earth & Sky tag).
