About meI'm twenty-seven, female, and work as a criminal intelligence analyst. I'm originally from the St. Louis area, but I moved to Hampton Roads, Virginia after high school.

I've adored books my entire life. My parents love to brag about how I taught myself to read; I was three and a half.

In my spare time, I'm usually reading, researching new books to read online, running, riding my bike, or hanging out with my dog. My favorite way to relax after a long run? A steaming cup of coffee and a great book. And sometimes an ice pack or two.

About my libraryI use LibraryThing not only to catalog the books I own, but all the books I read. I recently stopped spending money on books I'll never get around to reading (I tend to buy books faster than I can read them), and instead have fallen head over heels for my local library system(s).

Noticed you liked The Bluest Eye, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also southern and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

Thanks,

I also noticed your comment on The Dogs of Babel. I read it a few years ago and agree that some situations with the dogs were pretty gruesome. I will always remember though, what happened when the husband mentioned the wife's name and how the dog went crazy looking for her. Books don't usually make me cry, but that scene was a very memorable heartbreaker. I could see my dog doing the exact same thing. Happy reading!
I also found [The Dogs of Babel] quite interesting. Your the first person I know other than myself who has read it.
I just saw a post by you from May of 2007 about Sophies World. I felt pretty much the same. I saw all these great reviews about it, but when I read it, it felt like a picture book basically.
Hi I just came across an old FAQ posting of yours asking for tag clouds on subsets of books. You can do stuff like that by using the tab-export and a bit of programming. I tried making a year cloud out of my books: http://www.daimi.au.dk/~bnielsen/lty.htm... so yes, it's possible, but most people don't program much, so it would be nice if LT did stuff like that.
I'm anxious to read your review - I couldn't believe how bad it was, how disappointing. I am glad to know I'm not the only one that hated it too! :-)
Thanks for letting me know that there are other Virginians in the Green Dragon! You're right -- you are quite a ways away from me, but maybe I'll be down your way doing a book signing at a renfest or convention one of these days.

Cheers!

Hey! We've got a new member welcoming campaign of sorts going on at Green Dragon and I just wanted to say hi. Come on over and visit, we're a casual, friendly bunch at GD and we love interesting people and stimulating talk. Hope to see you there! Theamak
Who is that girl in the picture in your profile? She looks familiar.. Clara Bow? or something? I'm not sure. But she is beautiful hah.
And yay you're a Salinger fan as well =D
Just read your judicious verdict on "Sophie's World" in Book Talk.
I second it.
Gave Jostein Gaarder benefit of doubt and read "Vita Brevis" as well; take my word for it, vita is too brevis to do that.

Incidentally, I like your picture. Very reflective.
