About "Les Miserables", I can easily understand you: the first chapter is very long and...I hope the old Hugo could forgive me...BORING! But, and that's why this book is in my favorites list, the first chapter is something like just a prologue, and the other chapters tell a different story: there is a fatal love story, a secret to be reveald, a lot of unexpected events and strange characters and historical facts involving the main characters. Something somewhat similar to Dickens greates novels, in my opinion.
Just a last note: I've read it during the summer between my high school examination and the starting of University...It's a book that needs a lot of time and effort, but it really deserve it! :)
Hope to have aroused your's curiosity!
