About meI am the library director at a small town library called Roanoke Public Library in Roanoke, Indiana. I am in the process of completing the last class towards my MLS from IUPUI.

About my libraryThe books I have included are ones I have read for classes, for fun and to know what they are about because of their controversial status or extreme popularity at my library. I like to be able to answer patron and especially parent's questions and concerns about the material in the library. We are a very conservative small town and parents expect me to "protect" their kids.

Hi, Celia!

In response to your question about Twilight, I so DO recommend that you keep reading! I am a big fan of teen reads and I do enjoy fantasy, including vampire-type books, but what pulled me in was the great detail and amount of suspence I felt through out each book. I could not put it down, and when I did, I couldn't stop thinking about what was going to happen next. Stephenie definitely has a wonderful knack for using great detail to make real connections with her characters. I honestly did not find the books to be overly violent or graphic. No nightmares here!

It is funny in how I started reading it. My two team members (5th grade) were arguing back and forth whether she should end up with Edward or Jacob. This went on every day until I couldn't stand not knowing what they were talking about. Now I would say at least half of our staff has read the books. *L* I am actually trying to get as many of us together as possible to see the movie when it comes out the 21st!!! Oh, you should definitely check out the webpage if you haven't already. It has great extra information! http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/index.html

I will definitely check out your library. I definitely had my fifth graders in mind when I was choosing books (along with my own guilty pleasures...Have you read the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld?)

Dear Cbandeli,
I saw that Twilight by Meyer was one of your books represented in your library. Meyer has become a HUGE hit with all ages. We can't seem to keep her books on the shelf at our library. Everyone is slways waiting for the next one in the series. Her novels are on my list to read.

Celia,

I loved [A Thousand Splendid Suns]. I read it on vacation last year and could hardly put it down. It is definitely very weighty and deals with heart wrenching topics. The story is so well crafted that you develop a real connection to the main characters. I admit I cried throughout the book. Unfortunately the story is one that could be many women's story. If you think about that while reading the book it is haunting. Parts of it are still vividly etched in my thoughts.

I haven't read the [Kite Runner] yet and plan to when the semester is over!

I've read most of the Sue Grafton books. I enjoyed them immensely. Have you read any Tony Hillerman?
