Thanks for the kind words. Let me know if you or anyone you know has questions about alcoholism, drug abuse and/or addiction, as well as recovery. It's often like the family member who had Tourette syndrome. The rest of the concerned family members bought books, searched the Internet, ask questions--did everything they could to find out all they could about Tourette syndrome. More often than not, when a family member gets addicted to mind-altering chemicals, the concerned family members either condemn, chastise, denigrate, demoralize, make excuses for, or deny the problem. Rarely do they do what the example family above did to find out all they could about addiction or substance abuse. I am here and if anyone has any questions, I will give them my opinion. My opinion can be just one of many to allow those interested to find out all they can about addiction. Also, see my website for an array of articles and other addiction/recovery material.

Hi, How are you>
Hi friend thanks reply. Keep on touch with me.
Hi, friend how is the book "Wine-food index"
Carmelo,
I am just interested in history and in general about Rome. I have been living in Milan for a year. Before coming here I've lived for a year and a half in the US but I am originally from Rome.
Do you know of any other website similar to librarything but maybe more specialized in antiquarian books?
I was really impressed by your library, congratulations!!
Diego
Hi, you have an excellent books on your library.
Thank you, I am sorry I've seen your message only now. Congratulations for your library too. Where are you from?
At present am not reading anything..I will the "Winter's Tale", after enjoying my weekend...Meet you soon.
Ciao! Fascinating library. . . It's not as lonely in Kansas as you might think -- we have a very small, but incredibly enthusiastic group of Italiani and Italiani wannabes. KU has a very sophisticated dept of Italian, and I have been involved in an informal discussion group that has been studying Italian for more than 20 years! Our 'professori' -- one from Lecco (Lago Como) and the other from Castellamare di Sabbia (near Napoli) -- keep us entertained with lively N-S 'discussions.' There is rarely agreement on anything -- food, politics, etc. I have absolutely no Italian connections, by blood or otherwise - magari - but travel to Italy at least 2x/year --

Looks like history is your forte. Any ideas for companion/background material for Dante? Just finished Inferno and heading into Purgatory (in Italian and several English translations), but my knowledge of the period is weak . . . also starting to put together a study guide for the Italian partisans in WWII - any suggestions?

Thanks for stopping by - Joonie
Ok....
Which book you reading now!!
Hi, you have an excellent books on your library.
GOOD for you! You're probably practicing a lot more than I am; bad cess to me. I'll get back to it ---- it's just that I'll need a lot of work to get fingers back in working order. Volunteering seems like work, so the piano just sits there. Anyhow, pay attention to your fingering and count out loud, and you'll be pleased with the results - especially if you listen to yourself and love it. Thus endeth the advice. Please let me know how you get on. Maybe you'll inspire me to warm the bench.

Hey Carmelo -- You look happy in your library! You and I share a lot of books, huh? Thanks for your kind words re my posts & my reviews. I only wish I had more time to devote to the site because LT is awesome!

Ciao!

Stan
Thank you for accepting my friends invitation. I hope my profile gave you some new insights into Volney, Jefferson and Franco-American history. I will be glad to answer any questions you might have regarding Volney, his views, or book purchases. All Zee Best, TCW
Oh my soul! You have a real Book of Hours!!!!!?!!!!!!! Wow!
Carmelo,
I'm so sorry about the books at school. The things I left at retirement were all scarfed up, but I remember that the young person who took my classes the first time I moved from a school threw away all the "junk" (low reading level/high interest books) that I had so painfully accumulated.
I confess that even though I'm retirement age (I spent 25+ years teaching private piano lessons), I left with only 18 years in the system. Don't regret it a minute! I have been spending too much time here. LTing and volunteering and swimming haven't left as much time for reading as I expected either, but I plan to mend my ways.
Anyhow, I appreciate your greeting, and I'll look forward to reading your posts at 30,000 feet.
Peggy
Hi!
The secret is to pick books that are very different from each other. That way you don't mix them up. I like to have different books started because some days I want to think, some days I want a bit of history, some days I want to laugh, some days I want to read brain candy :-) I also tend to read them in different places. Tale of Genji is for the balcony, Ulysses is the train ride to and from work and so on. What else makes it interesting is often I notice similarities between books that I normally wouldn't have if I had read them separately. Give it a go! It's alot of fun!
Thanks so much for the comment! I see from your profile that you're a bookbinder - that's so wonderful! I'm studying rare books and have had the opportunity to learn a lot about binding and make my own book along the way. It's such a great calling. I hope to work in a rare books library soon, but we'll see how that goes - a lot of positions aren't being filled right now because of frozen budgets, so it's a tough market.
Thanks so much! Sorry for the delay. Have a great weekend!
