About meMy real name is Cathy. I am coming up to 62 years of age and I sometimes feel much older and sometimes much younger

I have two sons, 31 and 27 and they live near me with their wives. I have a beautiful tuxedo cat and a sweet, tiny Yorkie that keep me company.

And, joy of joys, my eldest and his wife are expecting my first grandchild (a boy) on October 16, 2014

I love to read and am often frustrated because there isn't enough time to read everything I want to. I have some health issues and often find it difficult to concentrate (although in the last few years that has been much better) so you will see a lot of 'beach read' type books in my library but I try and get in a lot of classics also. And I read a lot of non-fiction.

I became a member of the Library Thing community in August 2011 and I have have found the LT challenges instrumental in increasing my reading. I am more motivated to make time to read as opposed to leaving it to the end of the day and falling asleep before I can get anything much done.

My favourite places to hand out are at all the threads from the "75 Books Challenge for 2014" and the Virago Modern Classics Group".

Thanks to Library Thing and all it's members for making reading even more enjoyable!

About my libraryI have so many books I have run out of space. I kept buying another bookcase and another bookcase and another bookcase. I don't have any room for another bookcase!!

Here is my rating system: 'Stolen' and adapted from several LT folks

★ - hated it -didn't finish it
★½ - forced myself to finish but really wasted my time
★★ - a struggle to keep reading; easy to walk away from
★★½ - issues with this book but an ok read
★★★ - not quite good; not bad either
★★★½ - enjoyed it;
★★★★ - really kept my attention
★★★★½ - loved it!
★★★★★ - couldn’t put it down; all-time favourite

I recently found this quote:

"Even when reading is impossible, the presence of books acquired produces such an ecstasy that the buying of more books than one can read is nothing less than the soul reaching towards infinity... we cherish books even if unread, their mere presence exudes comfort, their ready access, reassurance."
--- A.E. Newton

Hoorah! So pleased. Enjoy!
I have finally got the books into the post - sorry for the delay. They may take up to six weeks to reach you but I expect you have a few books to keep you going till then!

Oh, I love your yorkie! She's beautiful! Mine is right around 6 lbs but is about 1,000 lbs of pure energy and might.
The verdict is in. Ernie is, officially, a big boy. 13 1/2 pounds and not even quite one year old yet (he was born, mid-January). I'm impressed!
Hi Cathy,
I am sorry, but I completely forgot about this. How do I get the book to you?
Thanks Cathy!
Yes, the Virago group is a lovely bunch of people!

Hope the book reaches you soon,

Karen
Hi Cathy,

Many apologies for not letting you know - yes, I mailed this a few weeks ago although as it's going surface mail it will probably take a little while longer to reach you! I should hang onto your copy until mine arrives because you want to be sure of having one and also you may wish to choose a particular copy to keep.

Hope it arrives safely!

Best wishes,

Karen
Wonderful! Thanks for letting me know.
Cathy, I just wanted you to know the book was mailed on Wednesday. Enjoy!
Happy belated Thingaversary Cathy. You will have to share your self-gift titles with us.
Oh & BTW, where do you usually hang when not on the Virago site? I can be found on the 100 book gig plus I have a thread on the 75 book gig but am not there as much. I have trouble even finding myself there. LOL!~!
Happy Thingaversary, Cathy!
Yup, you sound like the rest of us Cathy. lol!~!
And like you I hope whoever got it enjoys it.
:-)
Cathy, I'm relieved that the book finally arrived! "Paying it forward" is exactly what I was doing. You have already seen what a generous group the Viragoites are.
Enjoy *Frost*! I'm pretty sure that you will.
