About me"And lead me not into temptation.. especially bookstores."

I have always been a book lover, and spent many childhood summer days at the local public library. I spent too much time in bookstores to the point I was forcefully dragged away from them from time to time.

Today I still spend way too much time in bookstores buying more books than I have time to read. (Anyone else have this problem?) And of course during my life I have 'solved' this problem by doing a work study at my college's library, then working at Waldenbooks, and now have worked 2 library jobs.

Currently I work full time in a college library cataloging department as a technical assistant. Apparently cataloging 40hrs a week isn't enough for me as I have the compelling need to catalog my home collection as well.

About my librarySome of the books in my library I swear I 'borrowed' from my older brothers and never returned. Some are from used book stores, others from clearance/bargain sections, and a few I purchased when I used to work as a bookseller (with the too tempting discount).

As I catalog them I'm surprised how a few are so old that they don't have ISBNs in them. (Some of these really are not in good shape, sadly. These I assume are the 'borrowed' or 'hand me down' books.)

As for subjects, my oldest titles revolve around Arthurian times and unicorns. Next oldest are Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Choose Your Own Adventure type books. (I blame my middle older brother who got me into AD&D.) My interests then went into Shakespeare, Japan, Druidism/Magic, Culture/Travel books, writing help, etc. Some titles I picked up as 'reference' materials for developing story characters.

Lately though I'm having a craving for Historical Fiction, especially involving Vikings or set in Japan. So if anyone has some recommendations for books in this area, I'm all too willing to check them out.

You're very welcome! :) And no, I don't read/speak a word of Japanese. *laughs* For getting the titles (and circles/authors) I use a variety of resources, but mostly these two: jpqueen.com & ekizo.mandarake.co.jp. Basically I just browse through their selection (even those not currently available) and look for the right one. Of course, it helps that I also buy most of my doujinshi from these two sellers, too. ^_^; There were still a few Kenshin djs I had to track down, but was lucky enough to find a good resource for them, too. The shitajiki have been much more of a challenge - a lot of the time I don't have any more to go off of except the name of the series - and there are a few where I don't even have that much, so I've been trying to track down images online (mostly using shitajiki.biz). I think I'm about half way through cataloging them, but I don't know exactly how many I own, so I'm not sure. Once I finish with those, I'm thinking about cataloging my binsen, too...but that's probably a long way down the road. ^_^;
Hi there! :) For cataloging all of my doujinshi I had to input them manually one by one. It was time consuming, but well worth it. I rarely, if ever, buy duplicates any more. :)
