It makes an impressive list of courses & expertise in Brazil (possibly more than in France!).
I always feel sad that, particularly in the Anglo world, academics in the human & social sciences seem to follow fashions - many frivolous - rather than what seem to me a serious pursuit of understanding. For instance, the 'structuralism' of the 1960s & 1970s was quickly followed by something that was intially called 'post-structuralism' but many of whose tenets were indistinguishable from its predecessor ...

Have you read any Greimas? He used to be big in Brazil, I gather (University of São Paulo, I think).
