About meI have retired after having been in education for 43 years, covering kindergarten through post graduate (in children's literature) and adult learners (computer applications and literacy). I have spent the last three years in an elementary school library and thought I had gone to heaven! Collecting children's books began my first year as a teacher and has continued ever since. I do read more than just children's books, but they are my passion - as they are ageless.
Everyone, my wish is for all children to B.E.A.R.
Be Excited About Reading!

About my libraryCovers children literature from early, early to H.S. Currently I am only entering my children's literature collection.

Wow your collection amazes me.
Wow! People give me a hard time about how many books I have and I only have about 4500 books. I think you're my new hero.
I think the most important thing we fill our classrooms with is books. You can never have too many books. =)
A bit more information about the older set of Book Trails. The copyright date is 1928. I have volumes 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. The binding is actually more blue than green, I guess, just very faded. Instead of the rich dimensional embossing, they have line embossed drawing, and a multicolored picture pasted on the front. They are almost twice as thick as the red set. My volume 4 contains the same material as volumes 7 and 8 of the red set. Volumes 5 - 8 are now listed in my YA collection showing subtitles.
Searching LT for "Book Trails" gives you a whole page of listings, so very few people have indexed them the same way. I'm going to try to unite these. They red set is very special to me, as it was the very first literature I was exposed to, and the books themselves are incredibly beautiful. I would hide for hours behind the couch drinking them in. When I had children, my mom lent them to me, with the understanding I would pass them on to other siblings as their children came along. I couldn't part with them and have been able to purchase several pristine sets for myself and now for my own childrens' children. Ah!!!!

Hi Charzie,

I see you have the complete set of Book Trails in red, a lost wonder that amazes me still. I'm trying to load the Book Trails set for older children. It is in green cloth binding. I'm having a problem even finding reference to it. Do you have it in your collection?

Thanks. Ruth
I hear you about there being so many wonderful books to read. I love your profile--B.E.A.R. is a great wish for all people!
The Rabbit Ears books are stories that were narrated by famous celebrities during the 80's and 90's. The first Rabbit Ears story that was created was "The Velveteen Rabbit" narrated by Meryl Streep. Some other notable Rabbit Ears stories are "The Fool and the Flying Ship" narrated by Robin Williams, the book version written by Eric Metaxas. Another example would be "John Henry" narrated by Denzel Washington. You can check out more of the Rabbit Ears series by typing down "Rabbit Ears Treasury" and you will find dozens of Rabbit Ears stories all on audio cd. These tales are also available on the Rabbit Ears website and you can buy either a DVD or a book on this fantastic series. The Rabbit Ears website is located at: http://www.rabbitears.com
