About my libraryI'm using LibraryThing to track my reading. For each entry, I indicate whether I own the book or if I borrowed a copy from the library. I'm particularly interested in place and setting in both fiction and non-fiction; I try to give detailed tags to reflect this.

Thank you so much for the Santa Thing books. I absolutely love them and can't wait to get started reading. The crochet book is just perfect! Happy New Year to you and your family! ~Debbie
Hello Claire,

First I wish you and your family a very happy holiday season!

Secondly you have my heartfelt apology that I sent you Heft which you have already read. I'm not sure why but after I'd submitted the form I checked your library again and discovered my mistake. I think I had probably not clicked on "all collections" at some time during the process of choosing for you. Will amazon let you exchange it? I suppose worst case you could bookmooch it? In any case I am pleased to see that you gave it four stars so at least it was a good pick for you!

I think librarything made a good choice making me your secret Santa. We seem to have a lot of similar tastes. I was tickled to see all the books you've read about Africa. Where does your interest come from?

I have just finished When a Crocodile Eats the Sun. Loved it! I did it as an audiobook and the author reads it so that added to my enjoyment. I must say I didn't see that coming about the holocaust. It was so touching at the part where Peter tells George that his mother and sister probably didn't suffer and then George tells Peter thanks for doing the research and he's glad to hear about them not suffering, however, Peter and George know each other is lying.

When I started reading it I thought it rather dry compared to The Last Resort but it quickly drew me in and the dog and I have had some nice long walks recently as I listen to it!

I can't wait for next year's Santathing. It was so much fun. I loved choosing for you despite my incompetence!

Hi Chazzard!

Thank you so much for the SantaThing books! They are perfect. I actually just added How to Be a Woman to my wishlist based on a recommendation so it was perfect timing. I'm so excited to read both.

Thank you again and I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Thanks for the Santa Thing books, which, it being the 25th, I have now opened. Great choices -- I am aware of both (and people keep recommending The Art of Fielding, including strangers in the hall of the building where I work), but have not read either/any. Good job on catching my taste. Merry Christmas.

I also appreciate the other suggestions. I'm going to look for the minor league memoir as well.
Thanks for the two fantastic Secret Santa books :D
You're welcome! Hope you enjoy them both.
