GroupsAncient History, Librarians who LibraryThing

About meSecreted away in a sleepy, Southern town, I find myself increasingly becoming more and more preoccupied with (and dependent upon) Words.

As frustratingly fascinating as it is to fiddle with them, Words are so much more than our playthings. And they certainly aren't to be as carelessly used as the oxygen we unconsciously suck out of the air.

Words are our sacred vehicles of thought. They are the avatars of understanding and the actors of our entertaining ideas. Where would we be without verbal communication, either written or spoken? And yet who focuses on the Words anymore? Who studies Advanced Grammar or reads as much as you and I?

Perhaps wars are not fought because of our differences so much as our inability to express our similarities.

About my libraryDue to the subject matter of my writing, I have an increasing interest in Antiquity, whereas the majority of my books have been literary, sci-fi, and fantasy. As a librarian, I also deeply cherish good reference material. I would love to find a reasonably priced copy of the OED.

Noticed you liked Fight Club, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a disturbed bunch of kids and a bit dark :) I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:
