About my library These are books I own. I think I've almost finished entering them all. Of course, I plan on continually expanding my library.

I don't keep an online wishlist because the only way I can keep mine to a reasonable size is by losing my list every few years! :)

Hey thanks for the heads up about The Mayor of Casterbridge. I am going to check it out. Looks like they are broadcasting Adam Bede as well, double yaay.
Thanks for your comment, Christina -- it's nice to find folks with common interests! I'll have to peek at your library to see other intriguing titles! Take care -- Jen
Christina, I wanted to let you know that [Elizabeth and Her German Garden] arrived yesterday, along with the lovely book swag. Thank you so much! I am stopping by my "everything $1" used book store today, where I've found many treasures, and I'll take your top ten list with me.

~Deborah
Thank you for your help with my uploaded photos. I am the copywrite holder of them and very much appreciate your and LT's concern of copyright issues.
RE: Vivaldi

Okey-doke.
Hi Christina,

I just wanted to let you know that I received "The Weather in the Streets" today. Thank you so much for sending it to me. I have never read any Rosamond Lehmann and I'm really looking forward to it.

Thank you again,

Bernadette
Hello Christina, I just wanted to let you know that The Children arrived yesterday. Thank you so much. It was kind of you to send it to me. I am a Wharton fan but I have not read it and I look forward to reading it. Thank you again, Maren
I'll be glad to know what you think of it (and if you like it, there's a sequel now). Have you got any recommendations from your latest batch of Earlier Reviewers books?
I'm so pleased the book finally arrived - I was getting worried that it had disappeared forever!

Charlotte
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check it out.
I'm only a little way through the Gardener's Nightcap at the moment. I'm enjoying it...in places. It kind of switches from being poetical to being rather practical about various plants which I'm rather hopeless about but I'll let you know more when I've finished it.

Charlotte
>Either it's heavily skewed or this group attracts the brightest--the intelligent, lively and lovely. I'll choose to believe the latter. :)

I was just catching up on posts and saw your response to my post on the which-austen-character-are-you poll (skewed toward Lizzie) and wanted to say I heartily agree! I'm posting on-thread, but since it was so long ago...

Meg
Hi - I found the time, and am posting in a minute or two that the library's done. Hope it looks okay with everyone.

Thanks for all your help! Joel
Yes!! We're done. Doesn't it look good?

Between work and a play rehearsal, it'll be tomorrow morning before I can finish EH's post. At least I've started, anyway.

Thanks, Joel
Hard to believe we're done! My own library is tiny, so entering Hemingway's books has taught me so much about using LT.

I've never been a Hemingway fan, but now he feels more like the eccentric uncle with whom you don't agree much on anything. I wonder what he would have thought of this.

It does look impressive, we should pat ourselves on the back!

-Nina
I don't think you'll have any trouble with our tags - they're pretty general. All fiction as fiction, plus (if possible) short stories, American/British/French literature (subjective, I know), western, thriller, mystery, historical fiction. Travel and travel guide (such as Michelin, Fielding's, etc.) are separate.

I'd still like to do American Indians, nature/wildlife, writing and/or reference, and more... it'll be an ongoing effort, I guess.

Thanks for saying I should post the announcement.. I'll message nperrin and see what she says. Or...maybe Papa himself could announce it? "My library is complete... thanks to all the people who helped, such as... tagging my books is an ongoing effort... etc."

I could even end with something amusing (corny?) like "Now back to my poker game. Bill Faulkner is into me for ten bucks."

Joel
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries! I see I am in very good company indeed! By the way, I know what you mean about losing those wish lists!
Cheers,
Christine
Hi... I've noticed several other cases of duplicate numbers (773 - 773a, 3341 - 3341a, etc), so any hope of matching our total with the list's total may be difficult. It looks like you've got just 60 or so to go (amazing), and with the 15 or so remaining duplicates, I think we'll be well over 7400...

Who should do the post announcing that we're done?

Joel
Re: #5191 and #7246. It looks like a cataloging error to me, too, since they appear to be the same edition. Good catch! :)

On the subject of cataloging errors, I noticed that there are two different books numbered #5967 and #5967a respectively, which means that there are at least 7369 entries in the catalog, not 7368.

I've entered all 'my' duplicates, there's just some checking up to do.

-Nina
Christina, I just checked your Wiki--wonderful list! I just reread your message and seee that you were asking for the VMC number (not the ISBN) for The Ghostly Lover. It's 216.

~Deborah
I hope it hasn't got lost. Aluvalibri's has already arrived. fingers crossed that it will be OK.

Char
Christina,

Too funny. I've been 'stalking' your library as well!
Whew, glad we straightened that out!

Cate
Hi Christina,

Excellent list and thank you so much for your hard work!! I was thinking
of doing the same awhile back, but never seemed to get around to it.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow is a Dial Press Virago, so no number there.
Blood on the Dining Room Floor (green spine) is MIA! I have many, many books still in boxes
so I'm sure it's there, somewhere....

Cate
Hi Christina

Great idea! Unfortunately both the titles you mention are ones that are back in England so I can't lay my hands on them.

I wish you well with the project, and of course look forward to seeing it myself ;)

Louise
xx
Hello Christina, you too have a great book collection. The copy of Crewe Train I have says Virago Modern Classics 385 in the cover. I hope that is the right number. If not tell me where to look. Thanks for putting together a wiki. What a great idea. Let me know if I can be of any other assistance. Maren
And I do mean - with apologies for the extra note - it's comforting on both counts. Literary events, or books themselves, knowing they're there makes an enormous difference. Kind of like the shelves in my room; read, or not.
It's enormously comforting - agreed. Speaking of Molly Keane (seeing the comment below me) - I started Devoted Ladies Monday, in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Anglo-Irish (and witty, and recommended) and Virago green?! Undeniable. :)
Christina, thanks for the call out! We've chatted a bit in groups but it's nice to be in touch directly. I see you're also a fan of Molly Keane -- I just adore her work, especially the later ones. Happy St. Patrick's Day in her honor! I'm looking forward to browsing through the rest of your library, too.
Hello Christina - thanks for the interesting library add - looks like we've got quite a few books in common :)

Regards Karen from AustCrime
Hi, Christina!

I've ordered the first season Of Inspector Montalbano through Family Box Office in Australia. I have to go through my credit card validation process yet, so I'm not certain when they'll actually ship, but it should be soon. I'm really looking forward to seeing the series!

Thanks for taking the time to suss out Australian online stores. i wouldn't have known even where to start!

Joyce
Thank you for adding all the MBTB events! I may miss 95%, but I love seeing them. :)
I was playing around with LibraryThing local and found that someone had added my favorite bookstore, Tattersalls. I didn't think there were any other LTers in my area!
Christina:

Thanks for stopping by my profile page. I hope you enjoy Two Gardeners - I know I really did. And thanks for the comments about the dog - his name is Brix, and he's a 1 year, 3 month old mutt. He's a cutie, and luckily finally starting to act a little less puppy-ish and a little more adult.

Tracy
Thx for pointing out the Harris-mixup. I've changed it as soon as I got your message. It's tiresome how these errors always creep in, no matter how focused one is. Cheers.
Hi Christina,

Dorothy Gilman is quite a bit lighter than Elizabeth George, and her Mrs Pollifax stories are more like little adventure stories than mysteries. The first one is The Unexpected Mrs Pollifax in which Mrs Pollifax, an elderly widow, finds herself bored with life and does what she's always wanted to do. She presents herself to the CIA as a spy, and they find she fits the bill. I would read these as palette cleanser between denser books. I hope you enjoy them if you decide to give them a try.

Cheers!
Sandra
Hi Christina

I posted your VMC today. It's coming by surface mail, but hopefully it won't take too long!

Charlotte
Hi, Christina! Thank you so much for the Barbara Comyns book which arrived over the weekend while I was away! And, as if that weren't enough, the gorgeous bracelet! It's the perfect colour (of course ... wink wink). You're very talented! Thank you again! I love both of them!

- Helen
Thanks for clearing that up for me.
God bless you!

Oh, and one last thing; If we us the 'Wikipedia model for image use', shouldn't we assume that Wikipedia uses the same model?

Thanks a bunch for the Fossum recommendation. I do love mysteries and these look great!
Hi again, Christina! I finished Walking Naked and really enjoyed it! I've posted a little review on my blog, if you're interested. Thanks so much for the book. I'll be looking for more of Nina Bawden's work!
Thanks a million, Christina!!!!!
Christina, The book (Walking Naked) arrived this morning. Thank you so much! I'll move it up to second on my queue of books to read, and I'll let you know what I think. I read the first page, though, and had to force myself to stop and save it for later. Thanks again, Rob
Hi
Thanks so much for calling the Allingham misnumbering to my attention! I think that I just messed up when I put the numbers in. I noticed that after 17 I was okay, so maybe I had a brain blip that day.

My error, and thanks again!!!
Hi- Just thought I'd let you know I posted up my "review" of Mad Man's Drum. I still don't know what to think of it. Interesting, but maybe I'm just not the person this book was meant for.
Hi Christina~

I loved "Pope Joan." I found it very fascinating and intriguing. I've passed it along to one co-worker and another wants to read it. It's the January book for f2f book club. To think there could have a been a female Pope but then again why not?

Marcia
Okay, re: 1001 I think (after rereading the thread with fresh eyes) that "another copy" entries are just being added to the number of copies in the record, so that would mean you'd have 1001 and I'd start with 1002.
(Re: 1001) I actually have no idea - I'm a bit confused still on what should be done with things, so I havn't touched anything since early this afternoon.
Of course! Thanks, and thanks for commenting on the thread--I try to be on LT 24/7, but you know how it is.
RE: Narrowridge's photo of Kazantzakis

There's no way he's the photographer. Judging by the photo on his profile page, he wasn't even alive when Kazantzakis was born! In any case, I tracked the photo down to Wikipedia, which says it's copyrighted. Nothing like taking credit for something you didn't do!

I think I'll drop him a comment (don't worry - I'll be polite)!
Thank you so much for the very thoughtful SantaThinging! I haven't ever read any Annie Dillard, and the Szymborska looks wonderful. Oh, SantaThing is so delightful...
Um, that message was about The Rising Tide, by the way!
Christina, it's yours. (I just posted on the thread as well.) Both of my copies are in transit, so it will be awhile before it reaches you. I'll post a message here when I get it in the mail. Enjoy!
Thanks for your comment. I followed your advice about the picture and everything is fine now. I think so
Sure. Did you send it to me (Portland) or to Abby (Cambridge)?

Tim
I'm the one who should be apologizing for continuing to annoy. In future, whenever I run across a british subject, I'll check the NPG to be sure I'm not poaching.

As to Malbec, I was chastened by the movie "Sideways" and stopped drinking Merlot. So I had to get a little more adventurous. Becker Vineyards, a Texas winery just outside Fredericksburg, was selling a Malbec. The owner has become such a fanatic, he's spending a year in Argentina to learn some more secrets. At any rate, once I'd sampled some, I was hooked. Have you tried the Becker brand? It's really pretty good. They grow the grapes in Camp Air, Texas where, supposedly, conditions are identical to Mendoza, Argentina.

Thanks for your advice and guidance. One of these days, I'll stop being a burr in your saddle.
OK. Thanks once again for the information. Sorry to keep bugging you all with my blunders. Unfortunately, I'm a trial by error learner. Please bear with me, or let me know of I'm more trouble than I'm worth.
Just wanted to thank you for uploading all the author pictures. My author gallery stats jumped by about twenty (including some of my favourites)!
Hi! I just noticed that there's some sort of problem with your image of Anchee Min, that is, there isn't an image. (I flagged it for that reason.) When I click on it, there's an error message (Warning: getimagesize(/var/www/html/authorpics/minanchee7.JPG): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/authorpics.php on line 292). I've noticed this with a number of other images uploaded today (or last night), not all by the same person, and not all images.

I think I'll contact the site about this.
Christina, I was able to make two links because of your wonderful instructions. Thanks so much!
Tiffin
Hi Christina,

Glad to hear "Custodian" is in the queue! Even if you don't finish by the end of the month, drop by and tell us your impressions in the Open forum. We'd love to hear from you. Be well. :)

Have a great weekend!
Dawn
Hi,

My name is Dawn Connolly and I am a LibraryThing member and a librarian at Toronto Public Library. I see that you have recently added “Custodian of Paradise” to your library. I run an online book club called Book Buzz and this month we are discussing the book. It’s a friendly group, very relaxed, and we’d love to hear from you, too.

Our website is: http://bookbuzz.torontopubliclibrary.ca

We are also very lucky to be hosting a live online chat with the author, Wayne Johnston, on Thursday, November 22, 7:30-8:30 PM (local time). Please feel free to join in.

Thanks,
Dawn
