About meI love books and will read almost anything, so please feel free to make recommendations.

I have a soft spot for books with fantastical or surreal elements. I am also fascinated by books as artifacts and objects, so I like experimental/postmodern works.

I love children's books and have gotten into a habit of collecting Alice in Wonderland editions that I find interesting.

Some of my favorite authors in no particular order include: Jeff Vandermeer, M. John Harrison, Douglas Adams, Steven Millhauser, Kelly Link, K.J. Bishop, Ray Vukcevich, Edith Wharton, Ellen Raskin.

Noticed you liked Lovely Bones, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here, as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it also contains a young female narrator struggling with a series of tragic circumstances. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the book before you commit:

Thanks,

The book is available now through our website, and will be available from national bookstores in November. If you're interested, you can find it through www.flatmancrooked.com (there is a link on the first page). You can also click on the "market" where you can find a subscription to our anthology series. Thanks so much for your interest.

We noticed that you were a Jorge Luis Borges fan, and we wanted to let you know that we've just published a brand new translation of his story, "Gradus Ad Parnassum," in our anthology, 'flatmanCROOKED – First Winter.' "Gradus Ad Parnassum" is not currently in print in English, so we're rather excited to publish what is to many Borges fans brand new work. The book also includes debut fiction from National Book Award winner Ha Jin, as well as stories from myriad other established and emerging authors. Check the book out at www.flatmancrooked.com/fmcmarket.html. If you get it through our website, it's significantly cheaper than through Amazon or Barnes & Noble!
Hi, glad you have decided to join us in the Readercon Group! While I used to read a lot of SF when my kids were small and it was pretty much the only thing I could digest, I now read mostly literary fiction and, like you, the stuff that straddles genre lines. If you are anywhere within reasonable travel distance from Eastern Massachusetts you might want to consider coming to Readercon itself. Some of the authors we share are pretty sure to be there this year: Kelly Link, Jeffrey Ford, Jim Morrow... And, although the conversations include some straightforward genre stuff, they also include the books and authors you love. Anywho, that's my plug for that.

The list of books we share is a wonderful mix of great reads. I was the tiniest bit disappointed that the latest Jeffrey Ford was a pretty straightforward historical mystery, but he did win an Edgar for it. If it brings him the attention he deserves, so be it. I see you don't have
Karen Joy Fowler on the list, you would probably like her Sarah Canary; there are so many others I could recommend:-) Anyway, I look forward to your posts on the Readercon Group (and do feel free to start a thread for any conversation you wish to have). Best, Lois
