Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers.

I just read your survey on book addiction on the TBR support group, and I answered 'yes' to all but one of the questions -- I just can't bring myself to sell or trade any book, even the ones that are really bad reads. Though I have considered selling my kids to fund my habit -- only problem is that they're all bigger than me and I think they'd put up too much of a fight -- and I wouldn't want any books to get hurt in the struggle that would ensue.
I gotcha. I am a pretty big fan of Gregory, and have made my way to the Wideacre trilogy, having read everything else! There are some pretty outrageous things that happened... I'm about a third into The Favored Child at this point. I guess the incest is in The Other Boleyn Girl too, but yeah, not to the same extent as Widecare! That was shocking.

Thanks for clearing it up for me ;)
I was just looking up "The Favored Child" and noticed you'd tagged it "squicky." What's that mean? Thanks!
I completely understand about being too busy with work. I'm go to college and I work. By the end of the day, I'm beat and have basically no time for anything besides that. It's funny you should mention J. R. WARD's latest... I saw Lover Unbound at Barnes & Noble yesterday and I was overcome by giddiness. I LOVE her books! Lucky you...You'll probably get to read it before me. I have to watch it, sitting there on my bookshelf while I finish a 10 page paper. It's just not right.
I may be biased in saying this, but you have a great library (never mind that we have similar reading taste). Your profile banners are among the coolest I've seen as well. Read any good books lately?
I liked the house fire, too. The third one comes out this fall---I believe the title is The Devil's Right Hand.
I know, I was ready to scream at the ending! I couldn't believe it! Tragic endings just aren't all that common...even in regular urban fantasy. The second book makes up for it though. The plot is a lot tidier, too. Let me know what you think after you've finished it...& happy reading. :)
For Lackey, I would start with either Arrows of the Queen or Magic's Pawn. She is most well known for her Valdemar series and both of these are good places to start. Meanwhile, The Fire Rose is my favorite book of hers.
I didn't realize until after I picked it (Past Redemption) up it was a sequel. Do you think that it is one of those book series where the first book is required reading? Did you enjoy the stories? It was one of my more impulsive buys at the used bookstore LOL I guess I'm on a roll, I just started listening to The DaVinci Code on CD in my car and had no idea that was a sequel too!
Hi CJ,

Just thought i'd say i read your posts on Isolde Martyn, I've read all of her books, even Fleur-De-Lis, which isn't available in the US (i live in Australia). You should try to read it, if you can, i love it! Which book do you like the best? I hope that no-one has cyber-slapped you because they didn't like any of her books. She's one of my favourite authors too! Have a good day!
CJ - I am so glad that you enjoyed it. Yes, they are very addictive once you start. They were all I read for 3 months. Let me know what you think of the others.

Hi, CJ ~ Happy New Year! Yes, I've been visiting my daughter who's staying with friends in Johnson City. So far, it's been lots of fun. My flight back home connects in Charlotte. Wish I had more time there ~ we could meet for coffee & talk about books! :)
