About meI am a librarian in New Jersey. I like books, tea, cats, and knitting. With the previous description you'd think I'm over 70, but I'm actually under 30... go figure.
About my libraryI am using my LibraryThing to keep track of books I have read (some of which I own, and some of which I've borrowed from the library).

Thanks for your response to my comment. Michael Ondaatje is of course an immensely skilled writer, and Anil's Ghost very accurately depicts the atmosphere of terror which prevailed in Sri Lanka in the late eighties.

In your review of "Love Marriage" by Ganeshananthan, you state that you prefer Ondaatje's account of Sri Lanka's civil war. In fact, "Anil's Ghost" by Ondaatje deals with a different civil war, which was the Marxist uprising in 1988-1989. Ganeshananthan refers to the much more protracted and deadly civil war between the Sinhalese central government and the Tamils in the North who are fighting for independence. This war has been going on since 1983, and has claimed at least 70,000 lives.
