About meFirstly this is not a recent photo, it was taken in about 1963 when I was reading Camus, Gide, Sartre and their like who I have not read since. I was also reading T S Eliot, Ezra Pound and W B Yeats. I still read Yeats.
The Photograph was taken in an Orchard in Devon, England. There is now a supermarket where that orchard once was and I have become a middle class, middle-aged widow with two grown up children and a grandchild. I now live about ten miles from the lost orchard having returned to Devon after many years living in Wales.
About my libraryI have many books collected over the years. The subjects are Gardens and Garden History, Natural history, Science Travel, History, Fiction - both classics and modern, Drama, Poetry, Archaeology, Art and Art History, Textile Art.

glad that your grandchildren love the brooches - it is always nice to hear about satisfied customers! The bee design has to be my favourite design of all the many that we do. I did a weekend bee-keeping course in the summer and so have become even more bee obsessed than before, so much so that I hope to bring out some more bee related designs before too long.
The cruise sounded good, although I was sorry to hear about you leaving your book purchase in the cafe.
Bye for now

I heard 'The Age of Wonder' as a Book of the Week on Radio Four a while ago and enjoyed it. It was one of the many books that I hope to get around to one day...
My design work can be seen on our website www.sheer-sumptuosity.co.uk and is a mix of silk, vintage fabrics and free-hand machine embroidery. While I was still teaching I saw a demonstration of the free-hand embroidery of Bradford born artist Naseem Darby and life was really never the same again! I agree that it is good to be interested in a variety of subjects and thus books. One of my problems is that I feel that is so much of interest to read and enjoy and so little time - especially being self employed.
Best Wishes

I really like the mix of books that we share and of course loved your picture in the sadly now vanished Orchard. Look forward to corresponding more in the future.
Best wishes

You asked if I have connection to India (due to some books on my list), -- answer - none! I just developed an interest in reading about that part of world. Hope to read Kim soon and so forth.
Lovely photo that you have as your profile!

I see the CueCat has been swishing his tail again. The more you post, the more we seem to have in common, Judith ! Did you read 'People of the Book' yet ? What did you think of it ?? I have a hugely toothsome delight just arrived yesterday (in he nick of time as I was between good reads). It's Mary Doria Russell's new novel 'Dreamers of the Day' and I can hardly put it down
Hope all is well with you and yours

Whow you have been busy boosting your library catalogue. I can only guess that the CueCat is up and purrring. I've had no time for for my library - we had a tennis tournament over Easter so I've been out hitting the courts. I heard you all were having something of a cold snap. No such luck here where the fields are rapidly turning yellow-brown !
Hope all is well with you and yours

Sorry I took so long to reply - I don't log in here so often at the moment. A few months ago I decided I really wanted to read some Welsh fiction and came across this collection on the Welsh Book Council website. I was quite excited to find 'Urban Welsh' as it seems the majority of Welsh fiction takes place in the historical countyside. I also liked that it had up-and-coming writers - always exciting to read stories by new tallent. Anyway, I work in a bookshop here, so I ordered a copy in for my self. I'm quite enjoying the collection so far. Which is your daughter's story?
