I notice that you have read a number of books by David Adams Richards. I suggest you try his non-fiction. Hockey Dreams is autobiographical and I found gave me a better understanding of his sense of humour when I read his fiction. He is a true fan of the game. The other is Lines on the Water: A Fisherman's Life on the Miramichi. Fly fishing is another of his passions. This book is almost revered on the Miramichi and is read at funerals - honest. Try them and let me know what you think.
