I am new to Library Thing. I looked up historical fiction and stumbled upon your post. You are interested in Civil War fiction and I would highly recommend Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, by Allan Gurganus. It's an excellent book!

One of my all-time favorites with a civil war theme is "Rodman the Keeper" by Constance Fenimore Woolson. Rodman is a former Union soldier assigned as "keeper" in an unidentified National (Union) cemetery in a southern state. It is the story of his interaction with local residents. It is available as an e-book.
