About meI'm a Halloween baby, born on a Friday under a full moon to a tiny Filipina-Irish-American woman and a Scottish-German-totally-American man, both of them fen. I am the oldest of six children, the youngest of which is years yet from high school, the next-eldest of which is hoping to be married soon. I am small and dark, and if you saw me you'd think I was about eighteen or nineteen. I am a writer and a painter, and I am hoping to become an author and a professional artist.

I am fierce. If you are my friend, I am fierce in your defense--and those that I regard as mine are well cared-for. I was raised in a family of wolves, and wolf I still am. If I argue with you, when the argument is done it is done--but if it's not finished, I may hold the grudge forever.

Few people have said that I am nice.
Several people have said that I am good.
This is not to say that I am unfriendly. I am not. If I do not know you, I will still be warm to you, unless you give me some reason not to be. I am polite to a fault in social situations, unless I know you well. There is a difference between being kind and being nice--and I am not nice. I have teeth, and I do not leave off using them because it's 'not nice.' Nice, in my opinion, is what you say about someone when there is nothing else to say about them that matters, and I like to think that I am a little more genuine than that.

I'm quickminded. Often to my detriment, because I've got a quick temper as well.

I see patterns in everything. The thousand tiny relations in things I see and hear are a constant semi-distraction, and though it takes far more time to describe than to see, I often try anyway.

About my libraryI do not have many of the books I once had--I've loved and lost many books over the years, and come to love the spirit of the thing much more than the physical thing itself. But my list here is all of books in my physical possession, and when I can afford a paid membership there'll be a thousand more or so.
Many of the books I do have now have been well-used, or ill-used rather, but they fill the space admirably and I, at least, treat them well enough.

I am not an indiscriminate keeper of books. I will read anything at all, down to newspaper sheets on the sidewalk, but for it to be something I keep for more than six months, it needs to have been worth it on some level--either good enough to stand a second(or third, or fifth, or twentieth)reading, or so bad that I will hand it to friends to marvel over.

I read very quickly. I read a novel or two in a day, three or four pages a minute, though I'm a little slower with history and the like as there's so much more to absorb. I pride myself on being able to use what I read, and on remembering it--you will not generally hear me say that I read it, but I don't remember it at all.

I work at a bookstore, and try not to end a shift without a new book in my hand--but it has to be one I'm actually interested in, and generally I read it before my next shift starts.
