About meI'm a rare book dealer, selling works of 20th century cultural history, art, philosophy, social theory, and various movements, such as dada, futurism, conceptual art etc. After many years of living in Chicago and New York, my wife and I live on a small farm in Maine with our dog, cat and 12 chickens. Sheep are on their way too.

About my libraryMy own reading interests run much more to general humanism, with 20th century literature (more foreign than american), philosophy through the ages, and ancient, primitive and medeival art. We also have a pretty good collection of wine and food books, which is split between books on the history and culture of food, and the more practical cookbooks. The library is thousands of volumes now, but unfortunately lives in boxes, as we haven't yet set up one of the barns as a library. Some day...

Thanks, Don. Very insightful analysis. I've been comparing Gabler with other wine book bibliographies, and not with bibliographies generally. I appreciate the insights. Regards, Bob
Don, I'm interested in your three star rating of Gabler's Second "Wine into Words". How could the book be improved? Thanks. Bob
What sorts of conceptual art books do you normally carry?
Patchen: You're right, it was I. Strange coincidence. Thanks for replying and keep reading.
best, Don
Don: nice to meet you, but I think we have met before, and fairly recently: if I'm not mistaken, you were in O'Gara and Wilson within the last few months, chatting with Doug; I overheard you mention Lame Duck and we eventually introduced ourselves. If I'm wrong, then it's pretty striking to have met two former Lame Duck employees in 2006! At any rate, welcome to LT and thanks for stopping by to say hi, and I'll be interested to see how our libraries converge or diverge as you get more things added!
