About meI'm a baker/copy editor living with several friends in Portland, Oregon. My reading interests currently tend toward history and nature-related essays and novels; books of all kinds that take place in the Pacific Northwest are particularly likely to draw me. I'll eventually read almost anything that's recommended to me, but I'm easily distracted and likely to be in the middle of three or four different books any given week.
I hesitate to label myself a Buddhist, but I can comfortably say that the Buddha's fundamental teachings have consistently made sense to me for the past five years. I try to emphasize acceptance and compassionate action in my daily life.
LibraryThing user Jamaicarose is my friend and girlfriend. We give each other tremendous amounts of love and books. Sometimes people passing us on the street think we're so cute together that they give us chocolate.
Sadly, the hat I wear in the picture is not mine.
About my libraryClick on my gift tag and you'll find that my friends and family have far better taste in books than I do.
On the separate humor and hilarity tags: the former are books whose content is intended to be funny; books tagged with hilarity are those that most consistently made contact with my personal funny bone, intentionally or otherwise. For example, all the Jeff Smith books I own are quite funny, but I think The Great Cow Race contains most of the best jokes.
I'm somewhat humbled to discover that I've read barely more than half the books I own.

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:
