About me30-ish, obsessive tendencies that somehow haven't resulted in being a completionist or a must-have-matching-covers-ist. However, god forbid I throw a book away, even one I hated.
I live in a small piece of communal heaven with rather too much traffic noise, just the right amount of excellent food and a lot of beer, some of which is occasionally excellent also.
My purchasing habits outstrip my reading speed and I was horrified to realise recently that at my current pace and with an expected lifespan of 80 years, I will probably only read another 5000 books if I'm lucky. The chance of those being 5000 new books is rather slim as I reread for comfort according to my levels of intellectual laziness and distraction.
I loan out a lot and don't keep track of where books are. This is now an unacceptable practice and I fully intend to use library thing to track people with my books. I just don't know where about 50-60 of them (books, not people) are anymore.
I am now relying entirely on recommendation for purchasing and reading new books. I thought for a while I'd lost the love of reading, but it turns out that I now have a discrimination problem - in that I am no longer able to cheerfully read anything that comes my way. Thankfully, I know a bookshop who recommend and sell things I like.
About my libraryMostly genre - SF, fantasy, crime, horror. A large chunk of non-fiction, dominated by popular science. Some of the non-fiction is total rubbish. Actually, so is some of the fiction. There are bits and pieces of 'serious' literature that I have either not read yet, or re-read either for comfort or controllable trauma.
