Hi! Told you I was bored! I had a bad night last night - not really much pain but it was cold and I couldn't sleep. I got up this morning to find I'd forgotten to take my last-before-bed painkillers, which probably didn't help with the sleeping but must be a good sign because I didn't really notice!

Anyway, I've just been having a browse through your library. I just can't believe how many books we have in common! And so many of them are my big favourites too. I just noticed you also have the two Chris Cleave books, The Other Hand and Incendiary. Did I recommend those? It's so unusual to find someone who has both. God, I love those books - I think Cleave is one of the best writers I've discovered in the past year or so - both of them stayed with me for ages after I'd read them and I couldn't get into anything else for ages; I can't wait for his next one. I've been watching lots of DVDs while I've been stuck in here and one of them was the film of Incendiary, with Ewan MacGregor and Michelle Somebody (? can't remember her name but she's the woman who was in Brokeback Mountain and I thought she was incredible in this one). Have you seen it? They changed the ending of course (when don't they?) but I thought they made a really good job of it all the same.

Just off to walk Skeelo (Ray is away so I get to do the early morning one!) then out to Mum's to wait for auctioneers to arrive and take some stuff away. Good to see you in one of the chats back there. I would have much more to say on the Michael Jackson thing but I'm afraid I would offend too many people. Back later!
You'll love Jamaica Inn, I'm sure! I'm ashamed to admit that the real Jamaica Inn (and Daphne du Maurier exhibition) is only about 30-35 miles away from me and I've never been, except for a few drinks one evening. I've been wanting and meaning to see the exhibition for years - another thing on my list of things to do post-op!

I wasn't too keen on The Memory Keeper's Daughter but lots of people were. I've just started Castle Dor, which was started by Arthur Quiller Couch but completed by Daphne dM after his death. His style isn't as easy to read as hers is and I'm not quite as involoved yet as I normally would be with one of hers but I'm starting to get there.

Lovely to find another Shantaram fan. That book blew my socks off!
I see that either you or Lee also has Shantaram. I read that last year and (in Book of the Monh Club) voted it one of my favourite books of the whole year. What did you think?
Just went to drop some forms into the solicitors - is it my fault they are opposite the charity shop? Came back with 3 books.
Ooh, brilliant! What are they?
Remember to look back on this in a year's time when you are no longer speaking to me because I was resonsible for driving you out of your house to make more room for books.

Just as a word of warning, you probably should take a look at this thread http://www.librarything.com/topic/26946 It will give you some idea of how out-of-control these Mounts TBR can get. Just re-reading some of my own messages there I am startled to see my pile go from 70-something to over 120-something in a few weeks. I now have to admit to nearly 250! It has to stop! (Then again, you may have also realised how giving up smoking leaves all that extra money for guilt-free book-buying - that was my excuse, anyway! ANd I've inherited a few of Mum's books that I may not read for a while yet thouh, to be honest, that doesn't account for very many of them.

Ooh! You added Black Swan Green - I loved that! Have you also tried Cloud Atlas by the same author? Another really stunning book!

Link to Book of the Month Club - http://www.librarything.com/groups/booko...
If you start checking this page in the first few days of next month, there should be a new post appearing where we talk about what we read in May.
I won't make this a long one because I expect you've already received my very long, moan-y, grumbly email. Just wanted to say, don't go dashing off to get When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops? - it wasn't nearly as good as it should have been with a title like that.
Got the discogram done. Must say, I hope I never need to have another of those! Throbbing away quiye nicely now and nearly time for more painkillers . . . . aaah bliss! Longer message tomorrow.

Wow! I can't believe we've got so many books in common! The 'books you share' thing says 32 but I make it a lot more than that. And you're into Jody Picoult too. I thought I'd got all of hers (very disappointed in Change of Heart but I like all the others) but you've got one I've never heard of - Handle With Care - what is that one about? You've also listed some of my all-time favourite books in the whole world - Life of Pi, The Color Purple, The Beach, Fight Club, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns etc - that's amazing! Just think, if you bought mum's house and moved down here we could share libraries and every time one of us ended up in hospital the other could come and read to her! So good to have you here.

AHa! It's definitely you! I just found your 'friend' invite to me. This is lovely - having someone I actually know 'in the flesh' on here. Welcome to LT!
Hey Baby! Is that you? Are you Daisy75? (or did you borrow another friend's profile to contact me?) If it's really you, you've been very quick logging all your books. Let me know and I'll send you a 'friend' invite. If I'm addressing it to someone else, any friend of Sarah's is a friend of mine too so Hi!
