you have an incredible library
Enjoy reading your reviews and browsing your shelves!
Thanks for adding me to your interesting libraries. I haven't been on librarything for a while and just noticed the comment, then realized that I've been reading your weblog for at least a couple of months (high praise, as I usually read a weblog for a few days, then don't get back to it:)
Hi, thanks for the note. Yes, I know about the Duchamp reference (I'm an art historian). But is that really what's going on there? I just feel that Bolano wrote a tremendous amount, at speed, and sometimes he relied on the hope that even fragments would have interesting resonance. (A romantic notion, from Novalis, I think.)
How'd you get your hands on The Loop? I would sell moderately important body parts to have it in mine before May.
Hey Dan -- interestingly enough, I was being prodded towards a bio of Guy from various quarters (perhaps your little bird?), but this spring discovered, by way of being asked to sit on an MLA panel on new biographies of modernist writers, that Andre Furlani seems to be at work on such a book already. Phew! I'm not sure my career -- my marriage, my nervous system -- could stand doing another biography of a deeply-learned-but-publicly-obscure complex writer! But I am scheduled to write a biggish essay on Guy's work year after next, so stay tuned.
I never read the Ed Park article, but I printed it out and started reading it. Sad stories about lost people always interest me
you turned up when I was searching Daisy Ashford's Young Visitors. Check out the nyrb group on librarything: http://www.librarything.com/groups/newyorkreviewbooks#forums.

Sorry for the cyberstalk by the way!
