About meBorn and raised in San Diego but have called the US Army home for the last 18 years. I am an intelligence analyst and discovered Library Thing while in Iraq on my 3rd deployment. Married and have two boys. Bought my first book when I was 9 and still going strong 34 years later. The first book I bought was a dollar and was about German Me-109s. Miss those days for sure.

About my libraryAlmost all military. Cannot recall a time in my life when I didn’t have a love for military history and military books. My primary interest is in WW II with my primary focus being the German Army, the Waffen SS and panzers. Not to interested in anything before WW I. Enjoy books on military uniforms, mostly combat and camouflage uniforms, armor and infantry weapons. Have also spent some time acquiring some aviation books with an emphasis on F-4 Phantoms, P-47 Thunderbolts and B-17 Flying Fortresses. My library is definitely geared towards photo reference and more pictures, less writing. Not that I don’t mind a good read but want to see soldiers, armor and military equipment in a field environment or combat setting. I also build 1/35 scale armor and vehicle models. A solid photo reference is a must for that hobby. I guess a good day at my house is when I can work on building a model all day and have several books out providing accurate pictures, information and combat data.

NEWS FLASH! OK, I confess. Seems I have a few books in my library that are not about panzers, the Waffen SS or Veitnam. Really enjoyed building my library while deployed to Iraq so when I came home I decided to add all books to my library. Discovered that I have more books then I realized that are pre 20th century. Oh well.

I'm new at this. Very new.
Also for rudel519.
I believe that we have the same book, "Deutsche Soldaten".
I had a problem finding the book's data on amazon.com when adding the book.
I believe that the author's name is misspelled. It should be 'Saiz', not 'Sainz'.
But maybe it's just my oldtimers disease acting up again.
Enjoyed touring your library!
Thanks, Mike
Welcome back! Hope all is well with you.
You recently added a few books from a series on Israeli armor of which I had never heard. These have been added to my wish-list. I look forward to seeing what is in the rest of your collection. Take care.
My pleasure to be of assistance.
It almost looks like you've been scanning my shelves! By the way per Worldcat, 'Warmachines No. 07 - M998 HMMWV Hummer and Derivatives' was written by Francois Verlinden and 'Lock on No. 10 : British Phantoms F-4J/FGR.1 & FGR.2' by Willy Peeters.

As you seem interested in armor and already have 'Israeli M4 Sherman and Derivatives', you might like 'Israeli Sherman: Tracing the history of the Sherman tank in Israeli service' by Thomas Gannon.

Take care.
Hi Derek, I hope that you're staying safe! You've got a great library too and an excellent taste in books :-) I live a couple of miles from Brookhust Hobbies and started going there about the same time as you. I go there about 3+ times a week, which can get expensive but is always good. My other source is The Military Shop in Long Beach; a smaller hobby store, but well stocked in books from Poland and the Czech Republic on WW2 aircraft and armor. The Trang Leibstandarte book is excellent as are other books by the same publisher (Heimdal). Almost 500 pages, about 1000 photos of them on parade, training and in action. Pictures of leaders, weapons, soldiers in combat, lots of maps, and orders of battle. The vast majority of the pictures I have not seen elsewhere. I do not speak/read French, but can pick out enough words in the captions to figure them out and think that the book is worth the price and a very good addition to the history of this unit. I'm very glad that you said "Hi" and that you've joined LibraryThing!!! With my poor memory, I'd be lost without it. Take care, Steve
While I can see your 'no title' books, I just cannot combine them with mine. There are about five or so that fall into this category.
I look forward to seeing the rest of your collection.
Take care in Iraq.
Greetings and welcome! We seem to have the most in common and would have even more if the dreaded 'no title' entries had not occurred on several of your books including Gelbart's book on the Merkava.
