Of course I'm willing to share my information with you. It's not really a secret:) I went to NUST, or the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. Trondheim is in what we call mid-Norway, further north of Oslo. I'm not sure how much you know about the norwegian geography, but you can easily spot it on a map. I had a great time studying in Trondheim, I'm not from the city myself, but I can highly recommend it as a good city to study in. It's smaller than Oslo, but then again it's easier to get to know people. I guess you might be used to large schools and universities, coming from the US. It's a whole lot smaller here.... I don't know much about the program the offer at UiO, but if you're interested in the Viking and medieval culture I guess Oslo is just as good (if not better than NUST) at this. I think there are a few more people/professors in Oslo than Trondheim that specialises in older history.
Other prospevts to consider is the housing prices. It is a lot more expensive in Oslo, at least when it comes to rent, though they probably have some special arrangements for exchange students. I hope this helped a little...just ask if you want to know more:)
