Could you say something about the book "For Many Shall Come in My Name", If you dont mind
Eh, I don't know if that's right, making fun of that donkey that way. (thanks!)
Some of Carter's earlier books weren't so off theologically, just rather fuzzy generalizations (neither particularly helpful nor terribly harmful), but in his Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid he repeatedly insinuates (such as in the part about his conversations w/Golda Meir) the unbiblical teaching that the Abrahamic Covenant God made with Israel was conditional rather than unconditional, and that the promises made to Israel under it have been lost. Also, he totally invents from nowhere stories set back in Bible days, such as assertions he made about Israel and the Samaritans, lots of hateful religion baiting, never criticizing those who actually have destroyed religious and archaeological sites in Israel and the disputed territories, instead condemning Israel for poor treatment of Christians. Revisionism, invention, selective citation, and other typical propaganda tricks.
That's funny that I saw your Listmania list and it flitted away before I could see it. Now I don't know how to get it back. That's not funny, but your adding my library through LibraryThing at just about the same time your list popped up on Amazon is funny.

Carter's stuff is, well, not very knowledgeable about the Bible. He's one of those people who insist that Abraham's seed includes Ishmael and his descendants, when the Bible is clear, after Abraham asks that Ishmael might live before YHWH, that "NO, but through Isaac your seed shall be named."

Don't get me started! ;-)

Uh, yeah, my conscience compelled me to make that list. He's so willfully dishonest and with a straight face it's infuriating. Living in these times is like having a front row seat to stage-setting for another genocide, it's painful for me to see it going down. (The Israel-Lebanon corpses for terrorists swap today--esp. Kuntar--was a blow to my gut.) I noticed your library ratings indicate you're not a fan of Carter's writings either. I just switched my library to be public so you can see the books we have in common. I like getting book ideas from other libraries. - ER
