About me I've been an Apple Distinguished Educator since 1995. Bought my first personal computer in 1980 - an Apple, of course. I recently retired from forty one years of service as a teacher and school librarian. I'm from an old Cape Cod family and return in the summer each year to "renew the mud between my toes". I fish the surf as well as the net. My motto - "Embrace change, don't fear it"
About my library Have added a large collection of family's cookbooks.
Have included childrens' books selected for my son. Many of my son's books that he read in grade school have been donated to a school library wiped out by Katrina.
Have lots of ebooks - been reading on Palm devices for close to ten years. I think the Kindle is an alternative for tree huggers. It's just so nice to carry around a library of 250 books in my shirt pocket.

I'm glad you found the Thoreau book--hope you got a decent deal. And you're right-how do you judge the value of a century-old book? I just picked up a 1926 copy of Will Durant's Story of Philosophy for $0.50. Yay for library sales!

I found "In American Fields and Forests" in a small town antique store--one of those random finds. I felt a little guilty paying $2.00 for it!
Very interesting that you read a lot of ebooks. I don't know anyone personally who uses the technology regularly.

Thank you so much for sharing your Mom's recipe but, what is a Quahog. :) The best part about getting mud between your toes is having to go swimming in the creek to wash it off..
