About meHappiest outdoors scrumbling around, planting, drawing, hiking, bogging, botanizing, stargazing, snowshoing, herbing, looking for bats & salamanders, cross-country skiing, spelunking, backpacking, camping, rollerblading. When that's done, I read, write, paint & do other mixed media art, take hours-long cyanotype photos, play with cats & practice bibliophilia.

Hello there,

Did you finish reading the: Servants of the Fish: A Portrait of Newfoundland After the Great Cod Collapse? I was wondering what you thought of the book and if you would recommend it? I just got back from a Birdwatching trip I guided up with the Newfs @ Gros Morne Nat' Park...very interesting subject matter...fishing in Newfoundland...its really been a diminishing trade for them and starting to cause economic troubles now evern more then ever.

Hey Di,

I actually have not read that particular poem from Service in a long time. Let me re-read it after this weekend. I know alot of Services "rhetoric" that he starts, especially in some of his well known poems, refer to such body parts and or mentioning of these in a sense of survival and feeling. Maybe that will help a little?
And yes, I love my sled team...we have 10 huskies and my wife has 3 labs which we love to death! I run and guide with my sled team throughout New England and North Eastern Canada...its nice to get out into the "Wild" and beyond the reach of human influence once in awhile! I would have a hard time otherwise :)

Cheers/Zeke
The link didn't work but I found the bio in your library and it looks great. They just this week took down the snow fence that separates L. Michigan from the place it comes closest to the road which is a good sign. We've had tons of melting, I need to get to the beach too and see what's been uncovered...
Thanks for the note. What's the name of the biography? It's great to read Abbey after a long cold snowy winter.
