About meHi - I'm Mel and I live in Kent in the UK. I'm an avid reader and adore LT - love to get to know any fellow readers here. I love to read a large variety of genre - I buy from charity shops, browse libraries and also buy new. I am slowly cataloging my collection - my dream job? Own a bookshop of course
About my libraryMy library is varied - new to old, fiction to non, serious to flippant subjects. I am slowly cataloging my books - about 300 of which are resting under my bed at present! Yes, I love books that much, that I've run out of places to store them.

We're both well thanks! The bookshop plans are bounding forward at a scary rate - we've got a verbal agreement on a shop premises next to a 700 year-old bridge in a little riverside market town full of ducks and tea rooms. Once the contract's arrived to check over we'll be signing and getting our keys! We've been to look at shelving today at a second-hand warehousy thing, freezing cold but brutally efficient, and planning out where things might go and what we need to do next. In the meantime we're buying books by the bagful to get our stock started, which means lots of time shopping and evenings full of cataloguing surrounded by great piles of books, which is more than a little distracting. I've already set a couple aside to read before they go shop-ward!
Fingers crossed, we might be in there tearing things up and getting our hands dirty within a fortnight... In the meantime, I'm struggling onwards through a surprisingly dull book - 'Passing for Normal' - about a girl growing up with Tourette's and OCD. So far what should have been an illuminating insight has been a self-centred one-woman show, but I'll carry on for a bit.
Hope all is good, Ellie xx

I am still here and the weather has been quite nice this last week or so,bit misty today but think it will be OK tomorrow.
Maybe I will go out tomorrow for a walk round and some fresh air along the sea front, sea as in the river Clyde !
Bit like walking near the river Medway !

Twilight is definitely on my tbr. I am starting The Stand tonight. I know what you mean about wanting to savor a really great book after it is finished. It is hard to pick the follow up book. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! :)

I moved to Scotland in 2001 to become a carer for a very old friend,he was only given 6 months to live but managed to live another 5 years on top of this !
This was very good for him but not for me as I was unable to return after being so long away. I am now trying to find my way back to Kent which isn't easy in light of my age, I am waiting to hear about moving back at the moment.
I have some cats that I wish to take with me and they are causing a problem.
I much prefer nice flat Kent to hilly Scotland,it's possible that other areas up here are nicer to live in but I feel the this place is not for me.
Maybe I am a townie ! I also miss going to London as well.
Have you tried Readitswapit.co.uk ? I am a member on there with the username shirleymarye I have been swapping books on a regular basis for about 2 and half years and I have about 2000 books now !
Speak to you soon.......Shirley
