About meAvid collector of Australian Aboriginal books.My collection is more than a personal one,it is a potted history of my people. My language group is Badimia of the Yamitji nation in Western Australia. Currently residing in NSW. I am a writer and academic. I mention also that I have stories published in some anthologies which are included in my library. The publications are: Wordhord, Across Country, Lonely Planet's Indigenous Australia, and Those Who Remain Will always Remember. The last book is very dear to me as it includes a story by my Grandmother, now deceased and the title of the book takes the last line of her story. I'm very proud of her.

About my libraryMy library consists of Australian Aboriginal books covering all subjects from pictorial, art, anthropology,social anthropology, autobiography, biography, memoirs, children's books,social science, Dreamtime legends, plays, poetry,literature, literary critique, short story, history, government statistical information, Royal Commissions results, pamphlets to name just a few categories. I have a relatively small collection, around 500 books. Entries are made when I have the time.

Three Years She Grew In Sun And Flower
by: William Wordsworth (1770 - 1850)

Three years she grew in sun and shower;
Then Nature said "A lovelier flower
On earth was never sown;
This child I to myself will take;
She shall be mine, and I will make
A lady of my own.

"Myself will to my darling be
Both law and impulse: and with me
The girl, in rock and plain,
In earth and heaven, in glade and bower,
Shall feel an overseeing power
To kindle or restrain.

"She shall be sportive as the fawn
That wild with glee across the lawn
Or up the mountain springs;
And her's shall be the breathing balm,
And her's the silence and the calm
Of mute insensate things.

"The floating clouds their state shall lend
To her; for her the willow bend;
Nor shall she fail to see
Even in the motions of the storm
Grace that shall mould the maiden's form
By silent sympathy.

"The stars of midnight shall be dear
To her; and she shall lean her ear
In many a secret place
Where rivulets dance their wayward round,
And beauty born of murmuring sound
Shall pass into her face.

"And vital feelings of delight
Shall rear her form to stately height,
Her virgin bosom swell;
Such thoughts to Lucy I will give
While she and I together live
Here in this happy dell."
Thus Nature spake -The work was done -
How soon my Lucy's race was run!
She died, and left to me
This heath, this calm and quiet scene;
The memory of what has been,
And never more will be.
Hi Janice
Yes we are a community library (sorry that it has taken so long for me to respond to you)but we do not receive any money from the government. The whole exercise has been very interesting not least the generosity of the Canberra community in donating books, magazines and various pieces of furniture.

Hi Janice: Thanks for commenting over on my page. I guess my underlying motive for putting review up is to invite conversation, and your comment was very welcome. You conveyed much more to me of Rob Riley's treasured part in people's lives than the book managed to do -- I hope my misgivings about the book didn't end up sounding disrespectful of the man himself. it was actually the otehr way round: I was indignant on his behalf!
