About my libraryThese days I've been reading American history from the revolutionary era through the Civil War almost exlusively. In the past, lots of ancient, military and Soviet history.

thanks for a kind words about my library. In fact your great blog helped me to build it as I learned from it about many great books. Thanks for it :)
As for my interest in US history – well, when I was young I liked to read about Indians, Cowboys and Wild West. Also liked to watch any film about US history starting with Bonanza and westerns and finishing with fine tv series 'North and South'. Since I'm also a fan of general military history I couldn't miss US civil war of course. So I started to read about all this great battles and great campaigns but at some point I started to wonder why indeed this bloody war came and what happened after it. And I stared to read about pre- and post- ACW history and right now I can say that my hobby is 19th Century US history :)
Here in Poland you don't find many good books about US history so I must buy them in Amazon. And what is worth to buy I'm learning from blogs like yours. As I remember well in your Top Ten Books topic you asked readers about any other recommendations so I would like to tell you that recently I read W.L. Miller's book on Gag Rules Controversy (Arguing About Slavery) which I enjoyed very much and highly recommend.

Cheers, and keep up a good work with your blog,
