About meI'm into reading, gardening, needlecrafts, art, cooking, and getting together with friends. I get to try out recipes on them and use fresh herbs and home-grown vegetables from my garden. Because I live in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, I love to go for hikes. Every day I discover something new, amazing, and wondrous around my house.
Born in Brooklyn, now residing in upstate NY, happy as a lark amongst friends, gardens, birds, bees, and a terrific husband. Two grown daughters make me proud as punch. Another dog would complete the picture.
About my libraryAfter reading the first classic book of literature (from a school assignment) I became hooked. Since then I've filled my shelves with Dickens, Lewis Carroll, Twain, and more contemporary classic authors like Salinger and Christie. I absolutely love a good solid British mystery and the occasional horror or time travel fantasy novel. I have shelves devoted to nature, science and gardening; shelves filled with ancient, American and British history; other shelves solidly filled with art, photography and NY history books. I really enjoy historical-fiction mysteries that occur in NYC in the 19th century or before. Because I write a food column, my kitchen and dining room are overflowing with cookbooks (I haven't listed them as yet on this site).
