About meI live in Edinburgh, Scotland, and I work for a company in the energy and pharms consulting sector.
About my libraryI tag personally: so some 4th century BC drama is, for instance, also tagged as history: to me it is most used as a primary historical source.
I purposefully collect Scottish first editions, but end up collecting books.
The Scottish 1st editions vary from a Knox from the 16th century to modern fiction, but the end of the important stuff probably comes with McDiarmid's A Drunk Man Looks at The Thistle. The most important are probably six first and three second editions of Walter Scott, all bound for the Earl of Lonsdale at the time of printing, although I have a large collection of 19th century monthly literary journals which contain some interesting first appearances of short stories and poems by Scottish authors.
As for the rest? My main focus is history, largely from 400 B.C. to 350 A.D., but there are amounts of philosophy, law (first degree), international relations (2nd one) and substantial amounts of later history as well.
In fiction, I love modern Scottish writers - Brookmyre, Banks, Welsh, Gray and more - but have a huge weakness for sci-fi and other speculative fiction.

Saw you liked Trainspotting, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reading my new novel and posting your comments here (as well as on a few other book-related sites). Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a group of disturbed kids and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

I also tag with a mix of personal tags and tags that I think are somewhat standardized--I've changed some tags over time to get them closer to what other people are using. The more personal tags are either my comments on various books that seem "categorical" (such as "Needs an editor" or "Personal Favorites"), tags that remind me that I use a particular book to support a particular course I teach (such as "The Production of History"), or tags that relate to scholarly interests that I have.
I thought about further subdividing the SF/Fantasy/Speculative Fiction tags but I'm not sure I want to get into the business of deciding what is "hard SF", or what is a "Mary Sue" type story. I think I did use "Space Opera" for a few books. Also I originally set out tagging things that were in series with the common name the series is known by, but I've stopped that in most cases. (I don't think I need to tag the book "Gateway" with the tag "Gateway", it's kind of obvious.)
