I'm not sure "Never let me go" is upsetting but it is bleak, truthful and humane. Attributes of a great writer.
I have yet to approach "The unconsoled" but it is on my hit list.
I think I have read everything DWJ has ever written - would you call that obsessive? Like you, I don't want her to shuffle off this mortal coil but I don't think she is over the hill by a long stretch! In 21st century terms, she is young!
I have to say "The Merlin Conspiracy" left me reeling with confusion. Perhaps I was just experiencing a particularly wearying time at work.
If I ever break a leg or undergo long term sick leave, I will re-read the entire ouevre with massive pleasure. (Not that I want long term sick, you understand.)

I see you have "Never let me go". What were your thoughts?
(I'm in awe of Ishiguro's writing)
just catalogue your books s-l-o-w-l-y

or get a kid to do it like my friend who bribed her nephews

i still have lots to enter

MPH first of all stood for methodist publishing house and then for malayan publishing house and then not for anything

hello! so you are a library thingy too!! *hugs*
I absolutely agreed with you about "Under a Tuscan Sun". I hated it so much, I gave it to someone who wanted to read it and specifically requested that It Never Be Returned. That's how much I hated it. My question is, "What have the Tuscans everdone to deserve such a hapless book?"
Interested to see your extensive D.W.Jones collection. Have you read the latest, "The Pinhoe egg"? It's another Chrestomanci novel.
You have some delicious looking titles!
