I don't work in a bookstore or library (just a bookish person!) but am definitely an anglophile. :) I love the variety of books that we have in common. Usually when I have a high number of books in common with someone it's just because of series so it was nice to see all of our random shared books!
Noticed you liked Ordinary People, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it's also about a dysfunctional family struggling with death and mental illness. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:

You're very welcome. I love recommending books to people, and seeing their bouncing when the recs work. :)
I found a few for you. Some will be easier for you to find than others, and I'm still trying to dredge my memory for 2 more books in particular. :)

More than Human by Theodore Sturgeon
The Thread that Binds the Bones & Spirits that Walk in Shadow by Nina Kiriki Hoffman
Jumper by Stephen Gould
Beg for Mercy by Toni Andrews
The Family Trade by Charles Stross
Ember from the Sun by Mark Canter
In the Face of my Enemy by Joseph Delaney

The Chrysalids (aka Re-Birth) by John Wyndham
To Ride Pegasus by Anne McCaffrey
Time from the Stars & Variable Star by Robert Heinlein
Ordinary people doing extraordinary things? Okies, I can work with that. Any pref for kids/adults?
Well... I have Nantucket Summer, but I haven't read it yet. :) A lot of the other books we share are great though.

I'm happy to rec sci-fi/fantasy if you provide me a few limits.
Hmm. Our libraries are vastly different.
Hi Fig
I checked out the website for Powell's Books - VERY cool! I laughed when I saw "Book Bags Women's book group" what a fantastic name for a bkgrp.. wish I had thought of that myself for mine! I bookmarked the site. I have not read Carol Goodman yet and have 3. Would she be a good group choice?
The Eliot book is in pretty good condition but the spine has what looks like water damage - it's a little washed out. I can't seem to find the right cover to post. It's dark blue and quite nice. I found out that she was a female way back when I was a kid and was terribly impressed by that fact!
Cheers,
Clam
Where is this Best independent book store in the world?
I just picked up a copy of George Eliot's Theophrastus Such, Jubal, and Other Poems, and The Spanish Gypsy. It isn't in the best condition but not bad but it's dated 1888. Pretty cool!
Cheers,
Clamato
