About meI am a middle school Language Arts teacher with a secret love of reading YA literature. A former student described me as “a kid at heart.” There is a rumor among the kids that says you must be “old” to teach, so I am hiding under the cloak of an ELA teacher for now.

My students are always asking, “Is this any good?” I find myself voraciously reading in order to recommend books to them. There is nothing better than the feeling you get when you give a student a book that you know they will love. Or, when that same student comes back and asks if their mom/dad/brother/sister can read the same book.

I have recently started writing reviews for the new books I have read. That has turned out to be pretty time consuming, since I read several books a week! However, keeping up with my writing skills and finding new book suggestions has turned into a very rewarding hobby.

About my libraryI love reading Victorian Literature. Recently, I have started reading YA literature because I need books to tell my students about. Since my oldest son is quickly reaching the tween age, my bookshelves have started filling up with books that he might one day want to read.

It's a dirty little secret of mine that I actually LIKE reading the YA literature. I say it's for "professional purposes," but really, it's for me.

I read your excellent review of The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore and enjoyed it tremendously.

It is a gem of a book and your comments captured the essence very well.
