About meI've loved books since before I could read, and was the child who dragged a book with her wherever she went. I don't have as much time to read now as I used to, though, and I have somehow ended up with a large pile of books TBR.
Besides a self-proclaimed nerd/bookworm, I listen to lots of music, play the violin/guitar/piano, knit, and watch way too many movies.

About my libraryI read a little bit of everything...as long as it's good, of course! I like to be eclectic and openminded about books, but I tend to read mostly fantasy and fiction.

Yeah, I think i remember it somewhere in the book too now you come to mention it.

I said in the preface to my first book (and the only one out so far)that in some ways the experience of being forced to read Emma in yr 12 at school actually partly inspired me to write books that Boys would like as well.

Having said that you inspire me to pick up Mansfield Park or even Emma again to get a feel for the definitive girl book.

Mind you there are heaps of goods exponents of the "girl book" among modern writers.

I would like to attempt to bridge the gender divide in literature (which I was howled down for mentioning on the green dragon)which a casual stroll into any bookstore will confirm exists.

If you ever pick up my book in a library one day - I apologise for the spelling of Austen in the Preface - don't know how that typo got through editing.

Have fun in the Green dragon - be bold and say stuff you think!
Hi Maddy,

I also felt impeled to comment on your choice of a name.

Is "fool of a Took" in the book or the movie only? Do you remember?

Whichever, it is a very good choice of a name for the green gragoners.

As a guy, I have a love/hate relationship with Jane Austen. She is a wonderful writer but I had to read Emma in year 12 a hundred years ago and I am still carrying the scars.

I felt like the young guy I met in the train having to read Twilight to keep his girlfriend happy.

Welcome and don't drik the PGGBs whatever they say! You're too young! Even I'm too young.

David
Did you know you have your very own welcome thread in the Green Dragon? We are all enamored with your name, and from your description above, you sound as if you will fit right in to our cozy little pub. :)
Your nickname is the registered name of my mini schnauzer! We call him Pippin for short though ;-) (Although he's often foolish). I'm really glad you've discovered LT and happy you've found the Green Dragon too. We're a fun bunch.
Love your nickname!
:o)
