About meSometimes I think I'm less southern than I actually am, but then I remember the big family get-togethers with pie and homecooked meals.

Most of the time I read and write and think and play.

Optimism is key.

(I've always known I'd be a bank robber
so judge all you want, ladies and gentlemen,
because you never did become an astronaut.)

About my libraryA hodgepodge collection of whatever I come across. (Always undergoing revisions, adding and subtracting books. I'm trying to cut it down to the books I really love, the ones that have stuck with me in some way.)

I haven't read it yet. However, I heard that it's very good -- I haven't heard anything bad about it (at all), and it did win some fancy award. So it's probably safe to assume that it's fantastic!
Oh gosh , I hope you can actually understand that comment , not the best explained .
Hi. The bit on you're "About Me" about thinking you're less southern than you actually are made me smile. I tried for the longest time to get rid of my accent and almost succeeded. Thank goodness I came to my senses because I'm southern to the bone and it would have been a huge identity crisis on my hands. It's not a bad life, really.

:)
Hey, I'm happy to share- since I'm so happy to get recommendations too! Everyone at the library where I intern has loved Marcelo in the Real World. It's a really interesting point of view- a teenager with Asperger's Syndrome who is working at his dad's law office for the summer.

Hope you haven't already read it already :)!
I will need to check those out! Thanks for the recommendation!
I really loved it- I listened to it first, on the recommendation of a coworker and that was pretty fantastic. But I checked out the book after I finished because of the drawings which add as well. I thought Sherman does a really good job of drawing you right smack into his character's life. Have you read it already?
Thanks so much for the add! You have so many great titles I now need to check out! And I see we are both lovers of pie :) excellent!
Waht's Dirt Dance about?
Hi! Yeah, I'm doing pretty good. I'm very tired, but doing good. I'm reading a few books right now. Um, I'm reading Night World (and I forgot who it was by) and Love Is Hell by various authors. What are you reading right now?
How incredible is Cloudstreet? It's brilliant. I have tried some other Tim Winton, but was disappointed. Perhaps that's because i've only been exposed to the childrens books . . .
Yeah, i bought So Yesterday a while ago at a second hand bookshop -- it turned out to be quite good! It's a good one to re-read and not get boring.
Oh, well i'll have to track down some more Marcus Zuzak . =]
Hi! Pretty good =] You? Merry Christmas btw..
No, i can't recall reading anything by Emma Bull, but i will be on the lookout now.
Yes, it can be hard to follow, and the first time i read it, i didn't exactly get into it right away, if you know what i mean.
But once you get past the first bits, introductions etc., then i think it's a pretty absorbing read-- i encourage you to give it another go :)

The cover of my Betwixt is white, with a pink-yellow sort of dyed looking thing in the middle, and BETWIXT written in a strange font over that. Ok, that's a really bad description on my part, so i'll see if i can upload a photo of my cover to LibraryThing.

I enjoyed Tithe immensely, but unfortunately have not been able to get my hands on the second and third books! It's quite annoying :)
Hey,

Assuming you've read Betwixt, what did the cover of the copy you read look like? Because the copy i own is not the one with the ugly yellow cover-- and i can't find a picture of my cover any where on the internet!
I thought it was pretty awesome... bit sort of strange, and did require a bit of thought, but essentially really really good! :) It's the sort of book that leaves you thinking about it for ages after you've finished it.
Can't wait for the sequel.
What about you? I have seen some pretty scathing reviews of it though, so not everyone shares my opinion...
